I love that Jan wrote this blog. He does a great job covering the Rangers good and bad. Now since the letter, Gorton has said the team needed a change. Bringing back Mcleod doesn't make the Rangers better, faster or younger.

I recall a couple of times Chytil getting clobbered in Hartford last year and having McLeod on the Wolfpack or even up here is most likely just a reaction to that

the 5 minutes a game he will get isn't going to take away any ice time from any kids

signing crap like Roussel or Maroon would have been taking icetime away from the kids

- jimbro83

Agree 100% and that’s really all I was trying to say.

most likely right, although maroon has local ties, he may have been swayed if we through in a little more coin but we’ll probably never know.
- TrueBlue9182

The Devils offered Maroon almost double what the Blues did. It wasn't about the money with him, he wanted to go home and be close to his son.

I know what he and this site is

It’s click bait, he’s better then that

- Slimtj100

TJ - I understand your view, but to date - and anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong - I have never written a click bait column, nor do i plan to. My headers aren't salacious or misleading to draw in readers.

In this case. Gorton talked about changing over the team and we go back to a fourth liner who adds little. Tanner Glass was vilified here and we have now brought a similar version. Yes, he might play a role against certain teams, but if that restricts the development of the kids, then it's a wasted signing.

Plus my annoyance is what a signing like this could symbolize and how that differs from the direction that could be followed. The term and dollars mean little. If it impacts the future, then that's a problem.

Derek Grant doesn't have any toughness. McLeod knows his role and brings leadership to young team who isn't going to win the cup. Michael latta would be another guy I'd add if I was the rangers.
- vandymeer23

Thanks. Just pointing out that if adding a fought liner, Grant fit better. Latta also worked have been better.

Not pick on you Jan but, it’s ridiculous this signing is turning into a big deal. Do I hate having Cody McLoed yes, does he suck absolutely...but to make this a big deal and it’s own blog, is nuts. Rangers fans have this need and desire to hate something so bad all the time and it’s like your fueling the fire this signing goes down as the most who cares signing in the history of the NYR.
- Slimtj100

Also there is little going on now, so trying to cover what does occur and other deals that have even a tangential impact. But I do appreciate the view and the feedback.

I'd take Tanner Glass over Mcleod, 100 times over.

Unsure I would classify Roussel as crap. If he was acquired for 2-3 at $2+ million, that would have been an okay signing. But for four years at $3 mil per, a probable overpayment. Maroon could have played in the top-six, but he wanted to go home for at least a year.

Which kind of says it all. Only good news is that this signing if for one year and not three and for 750K not $1.65 per annum. I don't dislike McLeod and he will be spotted in. Plus if he does protect the kids and/or retaliate if one of them take a bad hit, then I will happy to be proven wrong.

First, it is virtually impossible that an article about Cody McLeod can be characterized as click-bait. Why? Because virtually nobody in the entire universe cares about Cody McLeod.

Second, I could care less about this signing.

Third, I could really care less about this signing. Like really.

Finally, Jan has to write something, and this only piece of Rangers news. So Jan, nothing personal at all when I say that I could really care less about Cody McLeod. Like really couldn't care less.

I just don’t think it needed anything but the readers talking about it on the blog you made 12 hours prior. Just my opinion. Surprised trolls haven’t come in here to make fun of us about signing McLoed

Click bait was probably the wrong term, it’s more like a waste of your own time I guess. This is as meaningless as it comes and no one would have much positive to say about it, so I guess that’s my point

It does absolutely nothing to defer ice time away from the kids

You’ve done better work Jan, that’s all I was getting at

I wanted to get to it earlier, but was jammed at work and yesterday was take your son or daughter to work day, so was involved in that as well. My goal was just to a) post a new blog b) express view on the signing and c) take about the Arizona deal and why I thought NY should be all over these type of trades.

Trust me, writing about Cody McLeod was now how I expected my day to go.

I never vilified Tanner Glass. He played hard every shift, was a character guy and good in the room. Not thrilled with McLeod either, as you said there are better options out there. Gorton must like what he brings to the team and he won't be playing enough to take time away from the kids.

I'm with you, don't like it but he's the 12th, 13th forward AT BEST on the team, for no $, no biggie. Dog days talk. I bet you he's a good guy in the room like with Glass a few yrs back.

I know, I got it.

The fact he just said it on a conference call about PR training makes that story.

- tomburton99

Kinda funny, I hear it in almost every rap song, on the train every day, in the streets constantly, yet there is never seems to be any outrage by those who are outraged when others says it ....

To be 10000% clear, I hate the word but its quite hypocritical.

It's so offensive to someone but that only depends on who says it... its laughable. You want change, look in the mirror and stop using it first before you tell others to stop. (Also stop with the.. when I use it it means something different crap)

Also someone using the word doesn't make them a racist.. and idiot? yes, out of touch yes? but you cant discern someone's internal feelings and viewpoints on everything by a word they use. Judge people by their actions (when nobody is looking) and you will find out who they really are.

I just opened Pandoras box, sorry.

what i find amusing is all the non-sense charts. you don't need charts to know this guy sucks at playing hockey. I posted yesterday the Rangers have done ZERO to address team toughness via the draft or free-agency. This season will be a tough one for all the young guys out there getting pushed around and no one there to 'protect' them or send a message. I believe Reeves was a good fit for the Rangers. We have a bunch of midgets out there or guys that don't really want to hit. When the only guy who plays with grit is Zuc..there's a problem. Does Gordon get this? what a joke.
