Kinda why I wanted Maroon on a 1 or 2 year deal. At least Maroon could play on the 3rd line with the kids if stuff got dirty. McLeod is an 8 minute a night guy that will be sent on the ice after the dirty stuff happens. I don’t mind the signing, definitely need a physical presence on the team, just wish it was someone that could play on the 2nd/3rd line WITH the kids.

I completely disagree with the blog. Reaves and others, that I do like, are not worth what the contracts they got. The Rangers are looking long term. I think for the first time in a very long time, they are realizing who they are at the moment and simply giving the team and youngsters time to grow. I like this signing. 1 year for a horrible hockey player who will “go” at the drop of a hat. Why give a Reaves or a Roussel type guy 3 or 4 years at 2 mil per? I know Reaves only got 2 years but even still. Keep the contracts short, especially for this type of player. I think signing one of those other guys for what they got would’ve been “Tanner Glass 2.0”. I don’t think this signing is that at all.

And once these youngsters do grow and the Rangers have a ton of cap space and no dead weight....look out

The Rangers can turn this rebuild into what Pittsburgh, Chicago, LA and Washington. In a few years the Rangers can be in spot where Winnipeg and Toronto are now. Just need a little...

Kool aid & quaaludes to pass the next 2 yrs ...waiting Mr Burton

where is your stand and how much for a cup of the goood stuff

I want waht you guys are taking , go to the light , its good in the light .....

Dolan will announce the sale of the Sports division as it called and leave new owners with a clean slate in both teams with no bad contracts to incumber them..
My bet is post 7/30 when the new fiscal yr starts ... and before season starts

hats the only redeeming quality getting rid of joke of a man /owner
we can only go up in that situation ...L G R someday again !

Those teams tanking turned tanking into championships. It works.

And not fight, like he did in Nashvile when the Preds ran the Rangers off the ice. The rare enforcer that doesn't enforce, deter or fight. #MyCodyMcleod

I don't recall saying I wanted Reaves and admit I wanted Roussel on a shorter term deal because he can also play on the third line rather than just being an enforcer. To me this is just wasting a signing, regardless of the term and dollars. Especially if he takes development ice time away from one of the youngsters.

I know, I got it.

The fact he just said it on a conference call about PR training makes that story.

Not pick on you Jan but, it’s ridiculous this signing is turning into a big deal. Do I hate having Cody McLoed yes, does he suck absolutely...but to make this a big deal and it’s own blog, is nuts. Rangers fans have this need and desire to hate something so bad all the time and it’s like your fueling the fire this signing goes down as the most who cares signing in the history of the NYR.

Jan wrote a blog on a hockey forum that he’s the blogger on, about signing a player, regardless of who it is bc this summer has been filled with nothing and your giving him poop about it? Really?

I blame that Nashville game and the teams response on AV. You can’t tell me an entire team sat there and ate all those dirty hits without the coach telling them to play whistle to whistle and let the refs do their job. And IF they did just sit there, shame on all of them.

at the end of the day it’s a very low risk signing for the rangers. we’ll sit here and micro manage it because it’s the middle of july.. what else are we gonna do.

i agree with whoever said he may start in hartford. 750K ain’t gonna kill us at this point.

yeah, whatever, people making waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much of it

the problem is that everybody is just beyond restless that they have done absolutely nothing this summer, and it sure looks like it will stay that way.

I threw the Reaves and Roussel thing in there just based on the thread comments and the obvious need for toughness. Wasn’t necessarily going at you and I donhear what you’re saying but I really don’t think he’s going to be taking time away from anyone. 1 year nothing deal for a nothing guy who can go. He’ll be needed in spots

I recall a couple of times Chytil getting clobbered in Hartford last year and having McLeod on the Wolfpack or even up here is most likely just a reaction to that

the 5 minutes a game he will get isn't going to take away any ice time from any kids

signing crap like Roussel or Maroon would have been taking icetime away from the kids

Derek Grant doesn't have any toughness. McLeod knows his role and brings leadership to young team who isn't going to win the cup. Michael latta would be another guy I'd add if I was the rangers.

I love that Jan wrote this blog. He does a great job covering the Rangers good and bad. Now since the letter, Gorton has said the team needed a change. Bringing back Mcleod doesn't make the Rangers better, faster or younger.

He's the exact opposite of a leader. If he were a leader he would actually defend his teammates. But ok.
