Hard to measure advertising returns on such an investment. A couple of things that can be stated safely.

First, all in attendance at Leaf Games, Raptor games and any concerts or other events will see a significant amount of advertising.

Second (and this is more important) Canadian Banks make money - lots of it, I'm a shareholder, they pay me a quarterly dividend of about 4% per year and the stock has appreciated about 40% in five years and experienced one stock split. Because I re-invest the dividends, the investment five years ago is worth well over 3 times what I paid for it.

Back to the $80 million - yes hard to measure the payback as you point out - but hard to agrue with their success.

Now you can track how they interact with your online presence from any of their devices. Banking largely an online experience now, so it works.

You can use the bank’s database to filter out people who are already customers, so you can judge how this audience is performing compared to a control group.

I was at a Jays game last year and they had those "BJ" tees free, if you signed up for a card. I had a buddy visiting from the East Coast who gave all kinds of baloney information to get a shirt. Laughed for days.
