Or reunite the Raddysh brothers (and T. Raddysh with DeBrincat).
- DarthKane

A bunch of Raddyshs.

Kidding aside, I was thinking about that earlier this summer to explore a trade to get Taylor Raddysh from Tampa.

Or maybe a trade with NJ to get Adam Boqvist's brother Jesper.

My $0.08:

1) Like the move overall. I really liked Hino and what he brought, but at the end of the day, he was expendable.

2) My concern with getting Kruger back lies in Q's coaching and line management. I fear he will just go back to slotting certain guys into their perceived role instead of working to have the entire team play a structured system (no, the horse is not yet dead).

3) I can easily see people saying the exact same things in a year or two about Hino as they do about Danault. I'm guessing he will get, at minimum, middle six time (if not top six) in AZ. He will produce t a slightly higher rate than he did here, and Stan will get bludgeoned for the move. Hino might have been a good player to keep, but if he is the cost of moving Hossa's $, I'm all for it.

The difference is that this trade makes sense for now at least, the Danault trade never made any sense.

Hawks will have some spirited competition in center next year.

I'd love to see Schmaltz take L2-C and move AA to L3-C. Highmore is a sleeper for L3-C I guess if they put 8 with 15. Kruger, Johnson, Kampf look like potential Line 4 challengers. I suspect two of them make it, with one playing wing and the other heading to the farm.

All told I am STILL holding out hope for Matthew Highmore. Great skater, good on draws. Can he lock down a Third line role? With Toews, Highmore and Kruger (or Johnson or the 23 year old guy from the Coyotes trade) the Hawks have some excellent faceoff guys. Would love to see Toews PK time reduced this year. Let AA, Highmore/Kruger/Johnson work the PK....

STILL wanting another D-man, but maybe that will work itself out with TBay thing Justin mentioned.

Golf clap to Stan. For now.

Good deal all around as long as the cap space is used wisely. Which to me does not include guys named Faulk or Nash, or a premature Schmaltz contract extension.

Would not mind seeing Patches for a year and a guy like Stralman on the blueline.

You either sign guys you build around, or can dump at the end of the year, or guys that meet both requirements.

Cap space and expiring deals equal flexibility. Something the FO hasn’t had in a long time.

Hey ROR I was just going to post this. Both players 4.5 cap hits expiring at the end of the season. How you make it work? Is AA going the other way in one of those deals?

JJ's reporting that the Hawks are pushing hard for Patches so we'll see where that ends up.

If you move AA you're still going to need to add another center? - gee how would Danault look if they still had him right now...yup... not to mention AA is the one guy who stands in front of the net...

Toews
AA - Schmaltz
Krugs - provided he can play
Kunitz - highmore- kampf

And with Ward's deal done at the end of the year that's more cap space for a possible run at Panarin. Who knows. Interested to see how this plays out.

A source confirms to me the Hawks have discussed Skinner, not clear as to the extent. This particular source had not heard the same about Pacioretty.

If they move AA for Patches we get a ballsy winger with something to prove, and MTL gets a center which they need more than we do. If we get Stralman, TBL can sign Karlsson, and BOTH guys we get have expiring deals and leaves room to fill the fourth line from Rockford.

You wait to see how things go this season and the FO has CHOICES.

So cool - happy trails, Hoss - hope you come back to the team in some capacity.

- pdx2ord

Ditto that !

I sometimes think that if Hossa hadn't come to the Hawks, perhaps no Cups do either.
I still believe that over time, many will see that he was really the straw that stirred that drink.

Totally agree. I was more talking about the pining for ex-Hawks who do well elsewhere. Jeebus that Danault trade was garbage.

I agree totally. And from a financial perspective I think Bowman did solid work here. On the hockey side? Hard to say.

Coyotes know what they have....a terrible D-man and a nice bottom 6 winger who great speed but lacking in size and elite skill to play along top 6. They are what they are.

Hawks DO NOT quite know what they have. YES, first thing they get is cap relief. HUGE win. Two other little things that could really push this trade to favor the Hawks.

---If Kruger can assume a capable L4-C role, lead our PK and win draws. HUGE WIN
---Morgan Entwistle. Third round pick last year, almost PPG in OHL, only 18 and is still filling out his 6'3 frame. Wiz had a nice write up on him earlier in this thread. Those interested should check it out.

Bowman addressed immediate bottom 6 Center needs and ALSO added a solid prospect to the mix. I don't think Hawks fans, including me, can hate this but so much.

- kwolf68

Entwhistle is not a solid prospect. He is far less than PPG in the OHL even in his D+1 year. He is a nothing. He will be 19 in 2 days.

The word ballsy has never been associated with Pacioretty. He is a goal scorer and pretty decent defensively. He is not ballsy. In fact, the knock on him is he disappears in the PO when the going gets rough.

For all the projections of Edsjell and his PO performance, it was Kampf and Highmore who did all the work. Highmore was causing huge problems for the goalie with Kampf right by his side. Edsjell was getting rebounds and putting them in.

Edsjell was not near the net BTW. Highmore and Kampf were doing all the dirty work.

This trade tells me Coach Q is not going anywhere any time soon .I like the deal ,and I was one of Vinny biggest supporters (bring back Vinny ) but believe as long as Q runs the show (into the ground ) Vinny and Hartman would never been given a shot . We have seen other good players moved to sooth Q ego . Hope this is not another one .
This trade is a little more bearable with the Cap space and young players ,we shall see how Kruger plays out ,always respected his game . .Think the HAWKS will add another Vet ,maybe Nash Or Skinner maybe Stralman . We shall see what Q can do with a team of older players . If he falters he will be gone ,and a real youth movement will begin .. GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skinner's value might be somewhat low rn because he has been reported saying no to every trade option brought to him thank to his NMC and instead provided a short (possibly 3-4 team) list of teams he would be willing to waive for. LAK was on that list (deal almost happened before draft but CAR ask was too much), but they're out now with the Kovalchuk signing.

I only trade for Skinner if the ask isn't high, which seems unlikely. He's good but I'm not for selling too much of the future to get him.

Pretty hard not to like this deal, 14 pages so not reading all of them.

I'm assuming most are happy with it.

Like Vinny but he's just a guy with speed, and in no way was a big deal to give up, especially where they are as a team at this time and place. Maybe he'll turn into a great one, but I don't think so.

Cap room is great, and don't get too hung up on Kruger, if he's not anything like he's been in the past, he'll be gone.

I'd be kind of pissed if I was a yotes fan, but I guess at the end of the day, for them its just cap space that they weren't going to use.

I am writing this now - in next two to three years, when Oesterle is playing well, I don't want to see any revionist history people here claiming the Hawks gave him away, or that Q didn't give him a fair chance.

I can just imagine the posts if Oesterle gets traded to a team that wins a cup - you will all lose your minds!!!!!!

What do you think a deal would look like for both Skinner and Faulk ?? Personally i'm hoping for Pacioretty and Stralman as they're both expiring contracts correct?
