Signing Kucherov has no impact on Karlsson. They already said as much. It actually makes it more certain on how their cap situation looks moving forward. The money Stralman, Girardi and Coburn make would cover Karlsson's salary. They have to move a contract or two but it's nothing they can't do.

Vasilevskiy is better, for one thing. Another is, they'd have three #1 defenders in their top four so odds are their offensive power will still be very strong and their defense will also most likely improve but doesn't necessarily have to be #1 in GAA either, similar to Pittsburgh.
