I'm calling it moronic because that's what it is.
Notice how you didn't even address any of the arguments? That's what you do. You ignore points people make if you don't have a counterpoint, and just keep harping your POV. That's why I say you're arguing in bad faith.
It's not that you're negative- it's that you're overly negative and consistently wrong, and when you're proven wrong, you just move the goalposts, deflect, or flat out deny that you said something.
If you're upset that people judge your comments by the fact that it's you posting them, and not by their content- consider why people have built that association. - Feeling Glucky?

someone should do a version of this with the Trailer Park boys as the characters.
that would be more fitting. |

Leafs, but if you start biting your nails now, you’ll be down to your wrists by June. |

The sooner you accept he's terrible and won't be anything more than a bad option on your 4th line, the better. - Scabeh
you could be correct - I mean who knows more about borderline 4th liners than the Habs fans? |

Gauthier wouldn't even be a lock as our 4th line centre.... that should tell you as much as you need to. |

you might as well keep him. He'll fit right in your lineup once Matthews gets injured again |

I realize... there's what four or five guys who will be fighting for the 3 and 4th line center spots...
I kinda thought he'd have a good shot at being your 2nd line center... behind which ever winger you're playing at center on the 1st line. |

End of story.
Even in that case, the Leafs did nothing to fix their defense and their defense was exposed as weak in the playoffs when they gave up an average of 4 goals a game. They signed Tavares to replace the goals of JVR/Bozak, not add to them. The Leafs haven't proven they can go far in the playoffs. They're still a team of potential.
Leafs didn't do that though.
That's nice but the Leafs still didn't match your definition of speculating on being improved. They signed a very strong player to replace the production of two other players they lost. They didn't add Tavares to JVR, they lost JVR and added Tavares.
Exactly the point, there's a handful of contenders and a bunch of pretenders. Being a contender is an exclusive group of teams, otherwise you may as well say all 31 teams are contenders and throw the word right out the window. - Unholy_Goalie
You really do have the reading comprehension of a 5 year old.
How have you missed me repeatedly saying I'm not actually arguing that the Leafs are contenders, and merely had a problem with your argument about a team needing to prove it in the season before you could label them as such if they made good moves in the offseason?
I've repeatedly told you, forget about the Leafs, or I agree they aren't contenders. Yet you keep going back to bashing them because you would rather bash your supposed favorite team than actually try to understand what I'm actually saying.
Everything you've said to me in the last several posts is useless garbage because I'm not arguing about the Leafs being contenders... Get it?
How do I explain this to you well enough for you to understand?
You made an illogical argument when you stated a team couldn't be a contender unless they'd "proven it". I argued that if a team that was fairly good went and made moves that elevated them, you definitely could relabel them a contender without needing to see them play the next season. Nothing specifically about the Leafs at all, only in general.
Once again, I'm annoyed I've wasted so much time just trying to get through that thick head of yours what I'm even arguing with you about. |

Are all better than him.
And you're right, that's without counting Drouin who'll probably end up playing centre again.
And god knows I'm not saying we're deep at centre with this post. |

officiating has been "inconsistent" to say the least.
three different Croatian players should have seen yellow in the first half... only 1 english guy has. |

The England guy got a yellow for picking the ball up and stalling so his teammates can get back. If they're gonna call that, fine.
The Croatian guy did the exact same thing, except he threw the ball away after. No card.
Ridiculous. |
