These guys grew up, having dreams of winning the Stanley Cup, not about making bank.
When they were kids playing hockey, they were probably picturing themselves scoring the OT winner in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final. I'd be willing to bet, even more than they would picture themselves playing in a tax-free market or how much money they will make before they turn 25..

Given Marner's age and production so far, there's a decent chance he could score 80 points by himself. But the addition of Tavares, if all goes as planned, should help him get there faster and further.

you'll see more and more that players will join teams like NYR, Montreal, Chicago, Toronto, Boston etc. (big market teams) because of they always wanted to be part of those teams since they were young.
