Tampa Bay could stand to improve defensively, yes, and that's what they're trying to do right now by adding a Norris winner. What have the Leafs done to improve their blueline? Sign an unknown from Russia and (frank) all else.

McDonagh is not a very good #1 D but luckily for Tampa Bay, he won't be expected to do that, especially if they add Karlsson.

Karlsson's offensive game, coupled with skilled forwards in front of him, could put teams on their heels for the majority of the game. Not to mention, with Hedman, McDonagh and Karlsson, all together, each guy can share the load and wouldn't be overworked as they were on their old teams.
