Lindblom seems like the obvious choice at 3LW, though.
- Feanor

Agreed. The lineup I'd like to see by some point this season would be:

Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
JVR-Patrick-Voracek
Lindblom-(someone acquired in a trade for Gudas)*-Simmonds
Laughton-Vecchione**-Raffl
spares: Lehtera & Weal
in LHV if not claimed: Weise and Leier

*would be willing to move Gudas and a 3rd for an upgrade at 3C. I want a guy who has good wheels, is a good playmaker, and can kill penalties

**If you land a solid PKer in a deal to fill the 3C spot, putting Vecchione, a RH shot with good skills between 2 LH wingers like Raffl and Laughton who can both skate well should give them a very solid 4th line.

DEFENSE
Provorov-Ghost or AMac (depending on score and/or situation)
Sanheim-Hagg
AMac or Ghost-Myers
depth D: Morin*** and Folin

***by the time Morin is fully healthy, you could hopefully send him down to LHV for 2 weeks for conditioning and that would take you pretty close to the deadline when the roster can be expanded. If you need to move a fews guys up and down for a couple of weeks to keep the roster at 23, they'll do what they have to do.

I'd love for Ghost to clean up his D zone play enough that coach couldn't drop him down late in games.

If Sanheim and Myers didn't look as bad as they did during the Marlies series I'd have thought about that as the third pair knowing Hakstol's man crush on AMac.

So it’s gudas and a 3rd for helm.

If this was Helm's last year on his current deal, or even if he had one more, I'd be ok with it. But paying Helm 3.85 through 20-21 is one year too many in my book.

We’ll just disagree. I hope laughton proves me wrong. I think he’s more effective on the wing and could possibly stick at 3rd line LW.
- Just5

I agree that he's more effective on the wing, but at the same time, I also think he's a better 3C than Filppula.

I once saw a 32 year old Danny Briere go from winger to center and light up the 2010 playoffs. He was originally a center, Played wing for a season (Hartnell-Carter-Briere), Went back to center where he was need most.

I disagree on the thinner aspect. I think Laughton is an upgrade at 3C over Filppula. Just mt 2 cents.
- jmatchett383

can you name a viable player who would not be an upgrade over Flip

Lehtera and Weise. Not sure on Lehtera, and if Weise played like he did in the playoffs, then you can remove his name, too.

Hak wouldn't even put Giroux back at center in a playoff series when Couturier was out injured.

2018 Giroux is more left wing than Jacinda Adern.

- Feanor

We had Filppula as a replacement for Coots. We don’t anymore.

Was that the playoffs where their #2 center, Jeff Carter, broke his foot in the first round and was expected to be out for the remainder of the playoffs?

If the Flyers are in the playoffs and Patrick breaks his foot and is expected to miss a month, then sure, I think moving Giroux to center would be a good possibility.

Pretty sure Briere was moved back to wing to start the next season.

- jmatchett383

This is 100% incorrect.

Briere centered Hartnell and Leino for the entire season of 2010-11. After Richards and Carter we’re traded. Briere saw a lot of time between Simmonds and Schenn in 2011-12.

Carter played wing to G.

Except everyone tells you why moving G back to center makes little sense, you eventually go away, then bring it up again a few days later. That isn't debate.
