Sure.... but Zajac costs less, for less time and is still a decent third/2nd centre option for the Devils....
Bobby Ryan and his contract is a complete mess. - Scabeh
yeah, there's probably some other pieces involved.
but zajac does suck.

It's a hard sell.
You'll get to live in Tampa during the winter, 0% state tax, and no one knows who the (frank) you are. |

Agreed.
And Callahan's NTC complicates things. - Scabeh
Agreed.
From a previous post we were talking about the possibility of moving Horton and a second to the Habs for a sandwich. I realized that Horton would have to wave his NTC. I was thinking that a nice dinner at Buona Notte might be adequate, but I understand now that this establishment is closed.

The graph sheet you posted showing cap space...can't we just have some nice #'s written down in order of cap space 1-31
It wouldn't let me quote you. - Garnie

essentially..instead of spending 7 million on a player like Phaneuf who gives you 3.5 mil value...you have players like Kadri/Rielly/Gardiner who are signed to deals cheaper than they value on the ice

Ozhiganov: we're not really talking about him at all and I don't see him penciled into anyone's pairings.
He plays a physical game, RHD, would be in Top 3-5 in hardest shot in the league. Points and ATOI dipped last year, bit of penalty trouble. Basically a younger, quicker, better-shooting version of Polak? - gravyface

Haha yup, I love how everyone gives Yzerman all the credit like he's some God. I'm sure any GM in Tampa could pitch those few words and have players sold on that. |

Several geniuses in Eklund's thread comparing Tavares' contract to Kucherov's as an illustration on what a great deal it is.
Would make a lot of sense except for the fact that Kucherov is an RFA and Tavares was a UFA on the open market.
A better comparable would be Pastrnak.
Still a good deal for Kucherov (no debate there). |

I was looking at a list of UFA Cs available(believe it or not, there are a few better options than Vermette, but taxes will deter them), and I realized that Shawn Matthias actually played for the Leafs... 51 games.
That year, our top-3 forwards were Kadri, Parenteau, and Komarov, with JVR missing half the season.
What a (frank)ing mess. So far from where we are today.
That was 2 years ago. |

a lot of people dont seem to get the difference.
I saw a bunch of posts when Tavares was signed by Edmonton media and fans saying how great Draisaitl contract was by comparison. But there is a huge difference between a 21 yo RFA and 28yo UFA
the comparision should actually be against Tavares 2nd contract after his ELC.. which was 5.5 ..and then shown as a % against the current cap value. |

Callahan was holding up the deal.. Still injured, therefore could not be bought out..
Ottawa is screwed now. They likely won't get a huge return because they are almost backed into a corner now. |

both deals are expensive but good. kucherov is only 1 year away from ufa, so pretty comparable years that tb bought - to tavares. |

We did a pretty good job of keeping the puck out of the net that year, didn't have much luck scoring though.
