Which is idiotic. He's got his whole life to live anywhere he wants, if he likes the coach and team, go/stay there, make a poopload of money and then when you retire at 34 go and live your life.
- Wetbandit1

I don't know about you but I like walking outside everyday knowing that it's going to be the perfect temperature and I can go swimming and do anything I want

I'm not sure if Columbus is the same way as Buffalo when you wake up in the morning it's like that death some days in the morning from October - etc

And his wife is probably the decision maker with living

One would hope the possession metrics would increase when you get 20% increase in Oz starts, and they did.
So his coaches realized he D game left a lot to be desired and they made adjustments in his game to improve his effectiveness. Not so sure you can look at those metrics and say his game improved...rather his stats increased by a conscience decision by his coaches.
His points were down neglegibly, his +- went bad significantly (5x worse than year before), and his blocked shiits decreased by 30%.
Say what you want those are not stats to rest your case on.

Besides, shouldn't we expect organic improvement in his game in year 5, noit have to try to explain how his game improved based on coaches sheltering him?

My personal favorite. "Jesus was going to put us over the top, but we got Eichel, ok, not Jesus, but still really (frank)ing good, we'll be fine." "Ok, that didn't work, one more draft and we'll be good.", "(frank)in Bylsma.", "We got jumped by how many teams? Will still be a good pick.", "Ok, we got Dahlin. It's all good...", (2 weeks later) "We need to tank one more time.".

I'm surprised no one commented on ristolainen stuff with Vogl

It sounds like a guy that doesn't want to be in Buffalo

Cant blame risto or other players for being sick of losing.

His offensive zone starts went from 47 to 54, which is a 14% increase, and still not great at 54%

People were fawning over Hanifin who started 63% of his time in the o zone and put up lesser numbers.

Risto put up a positive CF% on the worst team in hockey while passing to some truly terrible talent. He's fine

I agree with your risto comments.

Losing for 5 years must suck.
Let's see what he can do with 10 new guys so far.

Hes the type of guy we could really regret trading.

Eh.
Fans react in the emotion of the moment. The big moves generate optimism in most, hence the wild predictions... We have seen it most recently at the Prospect Camp....you would think the Sabres have 7 Getzkys , 5 Messiers and a couple of Bossy's, lol.

The Sabres did blow wealth of "Capital" they had...prospect pool was meager, while the big club was stocked full of underachieving losers and turned in putrid season after putrid season...while others teams who bottomed out enjoyed some level of exoense...panic reigned supreme.

Reality is the organization stumbled multiple times and thed team followed. Now there is more hope as it feels like the team us on the right path and has several b ew exciting players.

45 to 54 is 9pts, and 20% from the baseline of 45....not 15% from 54.
His coaches covered his ass, plain and simple.
He is a 2nd pairing, not a #1...as soon as he is utilized correctly against lesser quality of opponent his stats will take another jump....but us that really classified as his game improved.
Nope, didn't think so either.

I rest my case.

His points per game went from .5696 to .5616. Normal variance.

You can't point out that he had more O-Zone starts then bash him for not blocking shots.

The whole team went in the tank with +/-. They went from -32 in 16-17 to -80! last year. -25 is also not 5 times -9. His +/- went down the same amount ~2.5 times that the team's did.

His giveaways were at a career low given ice time.

As far as "organic improvement" goes. Yes he did improve, everyone else around him fell apart. Everything is relative. It's not like a baseball player and his batting average. He's inextricably linked to his teammates.

None of that is "regression".

This one can also be combined with "trade everyone for picks."
I admittedly backed Murray at the time. But man, he left this team with a barren wasteland when it came to prospects and a bunch of random spare parts that didnt work together on the big club. What an A-hole.
At least with Botteril I can see the philosophy that there's always someone behind you willing to take your job. It might take a little while to build the group of prospects to challenge, but Murray really created a mess. None of the NHL players had any reason to fear losing their jobs or being demoted.

I'm not arguing the merits of living in a big city, as I don't want to either, and Russia isn't in the Caribbean and neither is Columbus, nor Chicago...that must not be high okn his list of priorities.

You think differently than he does, doesn't make him wrong, doesn't make you wrong.

Besides, he is never coming to Buffalo.
With all due respect, as I was born and lived in Buffalo for 32 years ... take a drive on several of the routes from the ajjrport down to the KBC...the scenery doesn't exactly "promote" Buffalo..and for many, that is all they see, sadly.

No need to waste miire internet ink on hkm.

What? I was replying to Gerbe talking about weather and most of the big city NHL teams are in cities with bad weather.
