I think he was unfairly billed as the best player not in the nhl and that drove up expectations.

Still doesn't explain his complete and total lack of effort in the majority of his games.

I know it's kind of lame and probably not the most exciting of opinions, but I would be happy for Frost to stay in juniors this year just for future expansion draft purposes, that on top of the playing time and experience and strength he can build in that year is worth it to me. Then he can break onto the scene next yearike gangbusters
- Fryman4

That whole expansion draft situation does have to be considered depending on timing...I think it would be surprising if Frost sticks....but not shocking.

Yeah, except that unlike Weise, when he wanted to, he could play like a top line center. Weise, even on the rare occasions when he seems to give a damn is a 3rd line RW at best.

Both would be on my all time Flyers "Guys who didn't give a (frank) team"

I don't know if there really is a magic number. He's around 181, 182 now. So, if they want him at 185, but he's 182 and playing great and looks, by far, to be the best 3C option they have, you really think they send him back just because he didn't gain another 3 pounds?
- BiggE

To Hakstol those 3 pounds equals "veteran presence" weight

It will be even more difficult for Frost than it was for Konecny due to his playing center. The Flyers expect their centers to play a complete 200 foot game and also want at least 3 of their centers to be able to match up well against the other teams top 2 pivots. All that being said, he does have a shot, but he's going to really have to excel at almost every facet of playing his position to win a spot this year.
- BiggE

said the same thing the other day, being a center makes it different. That fact that Frost put on good weight and now is 184 gives him a shot. Maybe he comes to camp 187 and lean, that should give him a shot.

I still think Laughton has something to give. I wouldn't mind seeing him on Frost's wing, Laughton has one of the better wrist shots on the team and he knows the center position, that could help Frost.

Laughton, Frost, Simmonds has some potential. Not sure what side laughton and Simmonds prefer?

I dont think it will because he already put on the weight, with 2 months left I expect he will add some weight or at worse add lean muscle. I thought I seen he was 184, 10-15 pounds since he was drafted, all the while he was playing a lot of games

If that was a line, Laughton would be on the LW, Simmonds on the RW.

Would also mean that Lindblom is on the 4th line.

Agreed. Playing center and playing wing are two very different things, especially for an undersized 19 year old who we just saw get worn down playing against other kids over a long haul. Imagine what he will be like halfway through an NHL season if he isn't prepared.

One more year of junior will do him a world of good. And he will never play in the AHL.

yeah thought about Linbolm, truth is when they can put someone like a Linbolm on the 4th line the Flyers will be deep.

I like Laughton skating and shot with Frost

Pretty much how I see it too. He may very well look like a superstar in camp, but that's no guarantee that he isn't worn down and struggling by the all star break. Let him play Junior and the WJCs and then he can come to camp at age 20 in 2019, weighing 190-195 and ready to step right in at 3C in the NHL.

I think there's a 50/50 chance he spends some time in the A. Over cooking prospects is our thing after all

Frost and Ratcliffe playing at WJC is what is most intriguing to me. Not to mention Ratcliffe being the "C" at Guelph, and Frost being a leader on a stacked Sault Ste. Marie team. Let Simmonds play out this season, keep him if they are in good playoff positioning, and let him walk in free agency if the price is too high. Have Ratcliffe and Frost step in when Lehtera and Simmonds are gone.

PS the reason I am including Ratcliffe is because supposedly he was raved about at the dev. camp this year.

Honestly, I think it was our thing with when we had less talented prospects (Morin, Laughton, etc.) Ever since Hexy has been the stand alone GM, he has drafted players with more talent that were primed to have a breakout season, e.g.) Frost and O'brien.

I think ratcliffe has a ways to go before hes nhl ready but hes one heck of a prospect. More likely to see allison rubtsov vorobyov and nak make the nhl over the next year or so.

As the nhl roster gets more competitive it'll be harder and harder for kids to make it. They won't be battling lehtera and weise for spots in another year they'll be battling each other. It's a good problem to have but not everybody will win the roster battles.

Like I said, I have only included him because of rave reviews from Dev. camp. But, i think his size adds a dynamic that those others don't have. Plus, many touted him as a first rounder in the 2017 draft.

I don't disagree but his size right now is simply height he will likely round out about another 30 or so lbs as he grows into his body. Hes very lanky now. He is smooth however for a man his size. Right now this large frame with relative lack of strength would get dominated at the nhl level. I expect he may take a little longer to get here but when he does I think it'll be an instant contribution because of his unique qualities you talked about

Good point, and that might lend credence to the thought of hextall overcooking the prospects. However, I personally believe that the entire bottom six will be open in the next two years if not next year. I am not a believer in the players on the phantoms except for NAK, as far as offensive prospects go. Rubstov, Allison, Laczynski, Ratcliffe, and Frost all have more talent then the players on the current phantoms roster. Once they start playing pro I believe they will overstep the current phantoms regime, and eventually make the Flyers roster based on talent alone. Like Konecny and Provy did.

I really like vorobyov as well as a bottom 6 center. But for the most part agree. Phantoms and nhl will be getting very competitive for roster spots in the near future
