If I had my way this is the line up trading Sutter, Gagner, Hutton, Gaunce and Nilsson for whatever pics in 2019 we could get! - shutout47
Nice lineup Dayhawk, but you need to include Erikkson and Gagner in all rosters they are here until their contracts expire |

He is a dam fine player. Best of the bunch. His signing isn’t bad I just don’t get what whee he fits at this point. Another mentor for JV? THe only thing I can think of is trade fodder at the deadline. - thundachunk
If JV did that style of playe we wouldn't have signed AR. Unfortunately JV plays nothing like that and you need a player like him |

It baffles the mind when people refer to Virtanen as a power forward or physical. Gaunce is tougher lol |

Cherry pick much?
Why did you choose that time period? Go back two years earlier and that number jumps up by 4.
2012-2016 results in the same 5 players making the NHL.
If you're being honest with yourself, the draft is a crapshoot. The teams who are good at drafting still miss on most their picks. The reason why Toronto is seen as successful during this rebuild is because they have acquired lots of picks. - belcherbd
I was watching a video on Twitter from RJ Comets GM . He gave high praise to Brackett. Canucks finally have someone NOW that is a drafting guru |

Cherry pick a little more, we should go back to the early 90s. The entire point was that acquiring a crazy amount of picks doesn't help out a team as much as people think. Toronto is successful because the quality of their picks not how many they have. |

I think Jake will be traded within two years , he needs to add value first. |

Things are going to be different in Vancouver this year.
Virtanen is going to become the power forward we have all been hoping for. Eriksson will start to live up to his contract, Pettersson and Juolevi will both make the team, that will put Hutton on the short lease.
Stecher will get $2.5 at arbitration and hopefully improve his play.
Canucks new ufa’s will help bring some grit to an otherwise passive team.
Dare to dream, right guys. Honestly I hope all this comes true. |

space and time will give us some perspective.
It looks like he stocked the cupboards, but as mentioned, it remains to be seen how his picks work out.
I didn't like the term on his recent signings, but recognize why he signed these guys.
best case scenario for many is likely losing season, win the draft lotter, JB is gone and not sure who takes over... |

We need a top center (#1 and a offensive RHD)
Keep drafting
I think we will be slightly better this year 8-10 finish.

I don't think it makes sense to let him walk if he gets awarded 1.8M or even 2.0M by the arbitrator
Makes no sense to be penny pinching on one year deals for young NHL dmen |

I've been a critic of his, but selling him low right now doesn't make much sense to me. And if he gains value that just means he's progressing so I don't think it would make sense to trade him if he has his most productive season this year.
As much as his lack of hockey sense is annoying, his speed/size allows him to break through the neutral zone and gain the blueline with possession, that's what all of the elite teams do so well. Play him with 2 smart players and you can make it work.
He can do a couple of things that guys like Roussel/Beagle and Schaller cannot. |

yeah, any lineups without those 2 is basically considered cheating and don't count. |

If Weber retires before: Penalty per year – NSH Penalty per year – MTL
2019-20 $3.51MM $918K
2020-21 $4.1MM $762K
2021-22 $4.91MM $543K
2022-23 $6.14MM $215K
2023-24 $8.19MM None
2024-25 $12.29MM None
2025-26 $24.57MM None

Philadelphia should get tagged with at least half the recapture penalties. They crafted the contract that Weber signed, and Nashville had to accept it without alteration to keep him. They're to blame for the cap circumvention so why should Nashville be penalized? |

Because the Preds chose to match the offer? They were well aware of the possible consequences and still chose to match it. Not like they had no choice.
They had ample time to workout a deal with Weber and it was nice to see a team have the balls to do something which was perfectly legal but "frowned upon" in the old boy's club.
The NBA and NFL teams receive zero backlash for RFA offers, maybe NHL GM's are just too sensitive? |

They wouldn't have Subban, so it worked out well as long as Weber doesn't actually retire early. |
