I chose this. Let them walk and dont sign any top 6 players. Maybe trade for one if it adds a pick/prospect. Hopefully that plays out as well.
 - boonerbuck
I was OK with that too but yet they did overpay for a UFA Center for 4 years so no one got what they wanted. People can spin it all they want but if I suggested Beagle for 4 years at 3M just a month ago, everyone here woulda laughed.
Oh well, what’s done is done. |

My point is the two Sedin investment and them playing well until the very end. The owner committed to a group of players and then there was no backing out. It played out til this spring... players the owner planned to monetize as long as he could. Even if they waived, its two payers and nearly impossible to make work. The commitment to them literally bogged the team's rebuild down in the mud. Gillis and the owner are the biggest reason this rebuild is in extended mode. Benning hasn't accelerated the process of getting out... fair enough. Others could have dug out quicker surely. The blame you dump can be pretty ignorant though. - boonerbuck
I dunno if I agree with that, they could've easily started a rebuild in 2014 if they wanted to, they just chose not to. Of course they could've back out, what kind of BS is that? So yeah, it falls on Linden and Benning and ownership.
Snow's first year he actually tried the same thing as the Canucks did in Bennings first year, to compete and make the playoffs, which he did. But then they said (frank) it and started to rebuild. |

The main argument was that we’d prefer 1 more year mainly for Henrik as a stopgap C instead of overpaying a UFA C since the team will suck again anyway
I think everyone realized that the Sedins were a liability at 5v5 last year - Nucker101
That was Canucks biggest problem . They never planned for life after the Sedins . In fact they built around them right until the end. Jim had 4 years to try to find their replacement.
He is finally learning. He needs to fix the hole at center the RHD and the LHF |

It's their undying loyalty to those two guys that will eventually be the cause of their demise. They could've easily started a rebuild with them, as I said, they just chose not to. |

They will probably repeat the same mistake with Edler this year.
I don't mind bringing Edler back if the price is reasonable and there is not a NTC. Him being only one player and not two makes him movable . |

They tried to be competitive for the Sedins sake, they won't do that with Edler, be nice to see him moved for a draft pick. |

Does it really matter in 4 years that Beagle has one last year left with 10 ELC on the Canucks? |

Well we will have 10 draft picks this year and everyone of them will make the Canucks of course so that is 10.
I love if at the draft when we have fans upset that we took a certain player with our 6 th round pick |

Everyone talks about the Canucks lack of luck in the draft but I think/hope they were VERY lucky Philadelphia Dallas and Colorado passed on Pettersson so they could take him fifth overall.
Patrick, Heiskanen and Makar might end up being really good players but I think Pettersson is gonna be special |

Glad they didn't have a choice at him.
btw. Was at the prospects game, Palmu's power and acceleration (from a standstill) was a sight to be seen. He's gonna be a Canuck one day. Will be fun to see guys like him and Lind grow in Utica. |

Any of you guys have a realistic value for Tanev? A 2nd and a B prospect? |

That will get you Gudbrandson
We will keep him if that is the offer. Karlsson is on the block though |

Some of these trade proposals are way way out there. Let me assure you Vancouver are not part of the 3 way deal. The third team that is involved is the Rangers - VANTEL
Im saying we should try....point in it's ottawa we're talking about so there's a chance we can steal something. Won't know if our hand isnt in there |

Looks like I came in right at the right time. What's wrong with Patrick? He's not flashy but he's better than Horvat, who you guys probably love. |

What do you get when you combine a Gudbranson and a Tanev?
A full season played. |

I was gonna suggest a trade for Tyler Johnson but Yzerman gave him a full NTC |

You won't get Tanev for a second and a B prospect . Benning has already said no to that type of offer from the Leafs .
I think you will need to check out other teams D and go bargain shopping

Yup and they just signed him. That is why we are not in the mix. NYR Callahan might go back to but not Vancouver |

We could use Callahan. We need more bottom 6 players. We need more F's period. We don't have enough |
