Peca is a centre at least.

Don't get why people are so pissed that the Habs didn't sign an 8th left winger...

- BashCH

There's no reason to be pissed.

But we are so desperate for talent that once a young decent local player becomes available for close to nothing, people wonder why we didn't take a chance on him.

Especially when you see the way this team has given out bigger contracts on players who had absolutely no chance of having any positive impact whatsoever on the team.

It's just hard to understand/follow.

Bergevin is desperate for attitude, not talent.

I think his numbers are interesting, only 22 yrs old. Maybe our scouts know something we don't.

Played way less but averaging around 0.5 pts. His point production doesn't seem to be a problem so it had to be something else.

don't care that he local or about his last name. I care that it costed nothing (650 k) for a guy that has obvious talent AND mostly that had previous chemistry with our s young stars ( well closes things we got to a star in our forward group)

Much rather take a chance on something that might pan out, if it doesn't you just let him walk, then giving a contract to another 14th forward in Peca

While I disagree about him being local not being important. I agree with the rest.

I want good players first, but if you have a chance to get a player that's both good and local? You go get him.

Isn't it why they traded for Drouin? Because they couldn't possibly let the opportunity of acquiring one of the best young talent available slip through their fingers?

Makes you wonder why they traded for Chucky.

We had heard rumors that Duclair demanded a trade as far back as November of 2017 and it was very surprising to learn that the Coyotes were struggling to find teams willing to make a deal for what is a very talented player. When asked about that issue Chayka openly admitted that Duclair was both a speedy and talented forward, but he hinted at the fact that there may have been some serious issues behind the scenes that no one but the Coyotes have been privy to.

"There's a lot of things that go into a trade. Some of them are readily apparent. You see Anthony play and his speed and skill is obvious to everyone. There's some thing that I think should stay behind closed doors."

But again Meh. I liked the Drouin acquisition cause he was picked 3rd overall and had a great world championship, great speed and stickhandling...but he could be Chinese for all I care...

I agree that the most important thing, for every position on the team, should be talent/skill/competence.

But you cannot completely ignore it either. Doing so would be a mistake imo.
