I do think he is a star winger, this is always assuming that he would sign an extension here, but I think we should go after a start winger too, just not sure we have what they want for him that we would be willing to give up.

Reinhart?
Risto?
I doubt Nylander if moves the needle at all

They would want the Sabres 1st round pick next year, which I am not 100% sure I want to give it up.

- Lilroot9

The chances of our first round pick becoming a player of Panarin's caliber (assuming it isnt the first overall) are low enough that I take that Gamble

- Shadman306

I would 100% give up the Sabres pick next year but, I don't think we have enough to get Panarin.

I'd do 1 of the following:

McCabe, Girgs (seems like a Torts guy), Baptiste, and the later 2 of our 3 2019 1st rounders

OR

McCabe, Nylander, and the earlier 2 of our 3 2019 1st rounders (earliest is lottery protected; becomes a non-lottery protected 2020 BUF 1st rounder)

I like the player too, but to make it sound like they don't appreciate him is a little sour. They offered him $10m per season. I know he is worth more (IMO), but they don't appreciate him cause they are rebuilding or dont offer him more money? Because their owner wanted to dump a lot of salary?
- Lilroot9

You really need to research what’s going on in Ottawa and what he had to go through the whole year

Panarian

I don't know you can peddle a Scandella, Nylander, Asplund(?) and a 2019 1st for him.

I think they are going to want Reinhart and maybe that is 1 for 1, but doubt it.

Combine both of those deals and keep the 1st round pick in there and you might have something.

the senators are bankrupt, probably offered him no signing bonuses at all.

they have refinanced 3 times and the reports make it sound like melynk has put literally 0 of his own money into the team and is just riding the debt train

Kinda steep....but Panarin on Eichel's wing is probably worth it.

From a TB fan. Sign me up!

Makes sense.

Stevie Y is going all in. There are ways to do this,

The trade itself could be:

To OTT: Taylor Raddysh, Cal Foote, 1st
To Buff: Tyler Johnson, Ryan Callahan, Slater Koekkoek (I believe they have the cap space for this? Pretty sure they have 13m left)
To TB: Erik Karlsson, Buff 7th round draft pick in 2056 (or before).

Buffalo can send back Pominville or Bogosian to Ottawa for Cap.

I know most of what is going on, from insiders, but dont know the full complete true story (as all of us dont). Do I think he deserves better, yes. But do I think he is the first player to feel he deserves more from his team, no way. Sure he had a lot of personal issues this year, again horrible horrible stuff, but how did the team have anything to do with that?

It has been a rough year, yes, but were they not almost in the cup last year? (trying to stick to hockey related stuff)

That is not real suffering. 1 bad year and he deserves so much better?

The owner is the worst thing for that franchise he is cheap as they come

You say at least they offered him 10m ? That’s throwing dirt in his face

OK, so team is bankrupt, so that means Karlsson buys his own gear? No signing bonus, ok, so no big check each year, but would earn the same at the end of the year? (are those bonus checks taxed more like us common folk?) Refinacned 3 times and Melynk put no money into team, ok, so what does that have to do with Karlsson? But who cares about the other players? Just cause he is more talented he should be moved to a winning team?

Really? That's two first rounders (w/ the potential for a lottery pick)...a solid top 6/potentially top 4 d-man with more upside ahead of him (McCabe)...a forward with top 6 potential (Nylander)...a top 9 forward (Baptiste)...and an NHL-caliber bottom 6 forward (Girgs)

- 2 1sts
- 3 NHL starters who can plug in immediately
- 1 former 1st round pick with top 6 potential

That's a pretty damn fine return for one player who doesn't really want to re-sign with your team.

not necessarily a winning team but a top 3 player in the league should not be there

He is cheap, but $10 is throwing dirt in his face? It is not what he is worth, but do you think the first offer sent to a player is always fair? I mean isnt it usually something like

How about $10?

No, I want $13!

OK, How about $11?

How about, $12.5?

Best we can do is $11.........
