I'm tired of the contradictions and saying one thing and doing another. I think this is a fair place to voice one's frustrations. I was happy with the draft and pissed with free agency. I'm not thrilled with Linden or Benning. - Marwood
It is definitely annoying that TL says one thing and benning does another. But Benning has always said he will make room for a young guy that earns it, and he always has. |

Stecher as a hockey player “skill wise” sucks, I have no idea if he looks funny, talks funny, has funny hair, chews gum with his mouth open...etc.
He is a number 8-10 type defender. - Makita
I think he is easily a #6 on most teams, and ours. |

And I agree with the frustration Marwood, I was referencing the personal comments.
We are all disappointed in the state of the Canucks, and there is nothing wrong with targeting specifics and how they are interpreted by each to their own, I’d rather see Pouliot over Stecher, but that’s me and my interpretation of his hockey skills.
I was pointing out the personal attacks against Linden and Benning. |

i would be fine starting next year off with
Edler-Guddy
Pouliot-Tanev
MDZ-Stetcher
as our top 6. It is not a great top 6, but it is serviceable. |

For sure. He reads plays well and uses his angles/stick/speed to cover gaps. It's hard to watch undersized guys get pushed around, but he has the skill IMO. Hughes is the same, but on a way higher level. Love Hughes attitude in general, very confident without seeming cocky |

Well I guess we will see how the year plays out, but I’m sure the masses will be calling for Hutton and Stecher to be in the press box.
But what do I know other than what every other armchair coaches know |

That was essentially our d last year and we were awful. My hope is that hutton or del zotto are moved and hopefully one of our D impress. I thought Sautner was a stud in limited ice last year on the canucks |

The difference is: Hutton does not defend well. Stecher at least has some metrics that suggest he can play against decent competition. Hutton is a tire fire in his own end. |

What contradictions? They said that they were going to address the lack of speed and skill in the draft, they did that with Hughes, Woo and the others. Sure, July 1st wasn't a banner day but since we weren't going to land Tavares, Stastny or Bozak (unless we were prepared to offer 7x7 for Stastny/Bozak we were left with scraps. I'm fine with it, were the deals made too long and an overpay? Sure, but in the long run it's not going to hurt us, and without the NTC/NMC nonsense and the cap continuing to go up significantly in the future, those players can be traded in the second, third or last year if the kids develop faster than anticipated.
Let's be clear, for TL, JB and TG to go with an all youth lineup without much veteran presence (and bottom 6 grit) is just asking for EP/QH/OJ/BB/Horvat or Demko to either get their career paths derailed because of injury, lack of success or worse yet lack of confidence. We did the best we could to get solid NHL players into bottom six roles so that the kids who do manage to make it out of training camp to have some support both on and off the ice now that the Sedins are out of the picture. JB even said he's prepared to deal veterans in the secondary trade market if necessary, let's give him until training camp at least to see what unfolds.
That's my 2 cents, that and a cup will get you a quickie blowjob by a diseased, homeless, drug addicted prostitute on Main Street and Hastings. |

I will say if he is in the offensive zone he plays not bad, does get beat along the wall when pinching in. But in the defensive zone he chases the puck carrier, every see soccer players form a circle put a guy in the middle and play keep away. That middle guy is Stecher. |

I understand you don't like the player, but his turnover (as in stealing the puck) rates and shot suppression speak for themselves. He's way ahead of Hutton and has improved, which is all you can ask of any kid is that they get a bit better as the season goes along. |

No ufa would want to go there.
Is there any silver lining? - Nighthawk
Apparently Melnyk is going to sell the team after he stuffs the Seattle expansion fee in his wallet.

I just don't think that's true.
Too many people think Trevor speaks in absolutes. He 100% does not.
There is always leeway in what he says. He knows things change and you don't get the outcome you expect every time.
Often execution is hampered by factors out of your control. To me, they're always trying to do what they say.

Anyone that good at killing penalties earns a spot on most teams in a limited 5 on 5 role at least. Unless the team has an abundance of PK guys... but you get what I'm saying.

Well I do have a problem with Bennings appearance, sorry. This is a billion dollar organization and your first impression is of a guy wearing shoe polish on his head wearing Sally Ann clothing that sounds like he has grade 6 education.
He may be a super hockey guy but that is not what I an thinking or the rest of the hockey world. I can try to say it doesn't matter but he looks like a Jackass . If it was a disable or an illness that is different but this is an image of choice. |
