No one gives Brendan Shanahan grief for it, but I guess paying a coach $50m screams competence.

Hard to knock shanahan and his accomplishments as president when you compare lindens and his... lol.

Me

I think he went at it with Lord H for awhile too

- Nucker101

You always had a hard time of distinguishing a beef from a single argument. Lord H and us have argued just once and it wasn't about a difference in opinion. We actually agreed but he remembered my position in reverse and I had to go back a year and post the link to the thread he was referring to. We were on the same page... it was a complete misunderstanding and over with the same day. I called him a bunch of names eventually because he refused to stop insisting my position was reversed.

Since money is not an issue if Ericksson has an unproductive year Benning could become a hero by getting rid of him and making room for a kid

Lol we are literally naming off his prior jobs and asking how it relates to being the president of a hockey club. I listed his jobs and business endeavors. Tell me what im omitting, rather than questioning how one applies to the other?

lol once you were corrected.

Shanahan was the worst, and most inconsistent DOPS, and inherited one of the top farm systems in the league. I don’t disagree that Linden has been inconsistent in his message to fans, but you can’t compare their accomplishments at this point, it’s still 🍎 and 🍉

DOPS is super unforgiving. No matter who is in there, general public will always find something to gripe about with how they lay down the law, or lack there of, but ill agree he was god awful at it, same with parros. I do like what shanahan has done with dubas though, i think they are the first real threat as a team that they have been in decades

Very true. But in your theory, they made a mistake at the time.

No i meant theirs. Trading karlsson for futures is hard since their 1st is going to be top 5 and col gets it. Rebuilding isn't smart. They should do a retool this season and try and build a team that won't be bottom 5, then rebuild starting with their 2020 1st.
- Retinalz

If they didn’t miss the retool boat i agree.
They did so its a mish mash floor cap.

Sens are screwedi n so manys its incredible.
Optics are horrible.
Stars leave historically.
Duchene has no reasonto stay.
GM is clueless to date.
No ufa would want to go there.

Is there any silver lining?

Anyway, the point I was trying to make that Shanahan essentially did the same thing, which is move directly from player to executive with no front office experience...

Shanahan and LL have made many. No president or GM should be without making mistakes. But no one can deny the state of the team now. They are looking scary good

Yeah, that’s a potential franchise C you’re giving up

But Karlsson is a 28 year old HOF’er..

- Nucker101

No way I’d trade a top 3 pick for Karlsson. His next contract will be dead weight by the time he is 32. He is already starting to break down and he will be earning $11mill until he is 36

Leafs seem better off without Lou, look at what he’s doing on the Island

I think losing Hunter and the scouts he brought with him will hurt them though

Yes, listened to the interview...Amazingly, there was a Beagle frenzy which drove up the price. I hate the signing but he was their guy so they were right to get him. It all makes sense if Sutter is traded. if not?

Fair vintsy. And i probably wouldnt be critisizing linden had he taken the canucks out of the basement the same way shanahan has the leafs. Either way, ill try and move on from this. I think most are sick of the subject.

Show me, remind me or explain where I've said "TL is a good dude for us"?

This is exactly what I mean. Projections, omissions, misrepresentation, mis quotes, baselessness....

One trade people have mentioned was something around Karlsson(signed) to Col for their 2019 1st back, Barrie and something else.
- Retinalz

Are the Av’s in any rush to move a likely 1oa?
Why not start a bidding war league wide?
Hughes is already a potential trade chip before being drafted. That would be a precedent the likes of never seen before.
Then & only then after a team bets on the Sens being a sad sack 31st place team & wins 1oa would be hilarious. We enter new territory if the Sens 2019 1st goes to auction asap if for nothing else than to test the market. Burnaby Joe get on it 👍👍

I thought losing hunter was a huge loss for them. Read a few articles on their draft with hunter and without. Definitely a different direction in picks made.
