I think part of it is the kids aren't ready. Why rush Gaudette and Dahlen if they need another year.

Remember Boucher was Utica's best player last year. The kids need more time

- VANTEL

Obviously I think many of them should be in Utica this year but to be fair almost none of our good prospects were playing there last year

They are tried. Traded burrows. KB. Hansen. Vanek. Not for picks but youger assets.
- canucksfan1944

I will 100% give credit where credit is due, and I thought they did absolutely awesome on those returns (vanek I was a bit underwhelmed on but whatever). But to your point, picking up UFAs to flip players for picks has not been something management has been very successful at in the last 4 years.

Four year terms for older, slower players while the Canucks are "getting younger and faster...".
One thing that has always been consistent with the Muppets running this team is the mixed messages & contradictions.

If you don't take into account Kesler had major hip surgery and didn't play a game until after the Christmas break that might fool some people.

Obviously he came back too early as there's talk of him missing this entire season.

You are funny sometimes. Your bread and butter around here when it comes to the Canucks is omitting the injury factor on players who were out or on the team overall when it lost it's entire hot 1st line to injuries, much like the smoking hot shut down did. Our team was gutted but to you it's a clear indication that this team didnt improve(even though it did). None of it is a factor to you unless it's on another team.

because we have a perfect history under the current management team of doing this?
- Codes1087

I don't know what everyone's expectations were before the draft or free agency

I'm disappointed with the term of these signings, 3 years max for any signing would have been good for me.

Not expecting the playoffs next season. not expecting first overall(meaning last place), but expecting us to suck.

I am afraid of kids being rushed into the lineup more than signed vets being in the way of development.

what was mentioned earlier, 1 year away from being 3 years away from the playoffs? I hate the sound of it. the losing. but we will be paying our dues for a little while to come.

he is my favourite player. I'll bet you an avatar that he scores more than 7 points this year?

I don't think he is comparing Kesler to the Canucks failure/success. I think he just making the observation, that someone had pointed out that Kesler drives an insignificant amount of offense more than Sutter based off of last season, but it was an unfair comparison because Sutter played a lot, and Kesler missed the majority of the year.

Yes, listened to the interview...Amazingly, there was a Beagle frenzy which drove up the price. I hate the signing but he was their guy so they were right to get him. It all makes sense if Sutter is traded. if not?
- CanuckDon

hahaha...now I see what he choose for you now.

I will take where we are at now, compared to where we are at in 2012, anyday, and will give this management a solid pat on the back for how they have accumulated a good prospect pool. I think Brackett and Weisbrod are the drivers behind that, but I digress, I think the team is 100% heading in the right direction as far as prospects and the future (as long as we don't trade them and give them time and opportunities)

What about after the scrimmage at the summer development camp?
- hillbillydeluxe

It could start as soon as tomorrow evenings scrimmage at development camp.

Again not quite the fairest comparison. Coming over from other teams, bigger ice, etc. and having essentially no time to prepare for playoff level hockey. Boucher was able to step right back in with the team he'd been with most of the year

Having a franchise use your name doesn't make you a business man
Having appeared in sunglass and bike ads doesn't make you a business man
He is an athlete, I won't take that away from him, and WAS a great teammate and hockey player, but the president of Canucks Hockey, I am not sure anyone here knows EXACTLY what he does in day-to-day operations for the Canucks.

Yeah like I said, I don't disagree with sending them all to Utica. The only guys I see making the team this year are EP, Gaudette if a spot opens for him, and OJ if we can trade one of our poopty LHD

I don't see Hughes making it. If they think they can get OJ in to be the shiny new guy on D then they'll be patient for 1 year on him

So when we extend Boeser it should be for only 1 or 2 years?
