Arnott : Cutting to the chase, other teams considered 4 years as well, not only the #Canucks. 8-9 teams were in the mix. - VANTEL
Yes, listened to the interview...Amazingly, there was a Beagle frenzy which drove up the price. I hate the signing but he was their guy so they were right to get him. It all makes sense if Sutter is traded. if not? |

I saw Dahlen play in a few playoff games against the baby leafs and he didnt seem ready to me, obviously that's a small sample size but i'd like to see him in Utica to start the season just to see how he does for 20+ games or so, then possibly call him up when Eriksson gets his usual season ending injury - Brooks_Light
If he's not ready he's not ready, another year of development won't hurt him. |

Doesn't make it right.
They should have let one of the other bidding teams take him.
I was really hoping they weren't going to sign any UFA until July 3. |

I am just trying to make the best of it
I don't like the signing and I don't like the Baertschi signing even more. I think it is nuts to give a 3 year contract like that to a player who had 3 healthy scratches last year and that is injury prone |

Kesler only played about 1/2 the season after returning from major hip surgery. Using that to make Sutter look better is pretty desperate. - Marwood

So when we extend Boeser it should be for only 1 or 2 years? |

Agree with mostly everything you said, good take on many things. Except adding 1 or 2 new prospects a year is not realistic. The devils just had a great season and had 3 rookies and 3-4 fairly new prospects, all integrated well and had success, it can be done. Good teams like Tampa just did it, crap teams like Arizona as well. No reason why EP, Gaudette, Goldy, Leipsic shouldn't play full seasons if healthy. - Brooks_Light
He said 1 prospect every 1-2yrs lol |

That means a veteran sits or is punted so I'm for this option |

It would be actually the smart thing to do but we know that won't happen |

Jim is going to have to do some trades pretty quick. So many players are waiver eligible and he would be dumb not to try and see if he can deal them ahead of time. - Codes1087
True unless his intent is he wants to lose them after trying to trade them had no takers. |

I don't think Benning is married to these contracts. If Baertschi is struggling and Dahlen is lighting it up then I don't think there is a problem to bring Dahlen in |

In a cap world it's hard to move bad contracts unless you pay to have them moved, not a good option for a rebuilding team.
Have to see how it plays out at camp though! |
