No, I finally got around to watch it.....I dont know much of JJ TBH. RW hates him, so ill probably be a fan.

I just think the new star wars movies are as much trash as the middle movies. In fact most of the star wars movies are garbage in general. I think 99% of comic movies are garbage too.

I expect nothing less. I'm gonna save this for when you become a fan boy of Johnson. Then, I'll do that on your face.

It would seem we could have had DeHaan for roughly the same amount (little more) over 5 years than JJ.

This one was for Sid and I am damn happy we've got JJ. Let's get over it and let him play. Will he wear #73?

Makes sense.

Wow, didn't realise Johnson has played 800 NHL games. The guy must really suck!

That’s a big sample to take stats from and twist until your opinion becomes “objective”.

Jesse Marshall had a nice article based on watching the three games leading up to JJ's being scratched. Check it out if you subscribe to the Athletic. But cliff notes version -- really good in the front of the net and winning battles on the wall, good puck movement, occasionally out of position.

Occasionally out of position. I occasionally like to breathe.

Starting to wonder about Oleksiak. Seemed like a pretty simple deal to get done.

Did you read the article?

It's definitely a small sample but it does justify, to me anyway, that JJ wasn't scratched due to playing poorly. I thought he played pretty well actually. The one time he could be considered 'out of position' was when he got aggressive going for a hit.

If you put on Letang's tape in the playoffs you would see way more issues being out of position or giving the puck away.

I think we all need to chill. Yes the money could have been spent better (perhaps). But he will be fine in a 3rd pairing role....and being good on the boards and in front of the net are two skills I think our D lacks right now.

Tanger said pretty much the same himself. I'm also hoping & do believe that he will be better this season coming.

I've been saying the same thing for a bit now. I know he wasn't as pressing as Rust and Sheahan, but even Sheahan's process was drawn out a bit. As some have pointed out though, there are still quite a few high-quality RFA's still not signed, so who knows.

That being said, I do think it's a tad peculiar. In the case of the Pens, there's pretty much nothing left to do but re-sign Oleksiak, so you'd think they would just tie up that one loose end. Maybe I'm just wanting something else to be in the works, but I do think JR is still exploring other moves to be made.

I have to think the only thing holding it up would be the potential of an impending deal. If no changes are made the Pens might want to sign him to a short bridge deal. If someone is shipped out they might want to try and lock him up longer.

I got the impression that the Pens really liked him and he really liked playing for the Pens so I think they should be able to figure it out.

I don't necessarily think him not being signed has to do with him not returning. I do agree he gets a bridge deal if retained; two years, around $1.2/$1.3M.

However(and I'm a fan of Maatta), I'm not convinced JR isn't exploring a move with Maatta involved to upgrade the forward group. Oleksiak could very well wind up taking his spot if what the media has reported is true on what they project from him.

But who knows, it could be as simple as them knowing it's a shoe-in deal and not worrying about it. I keep going back and forth.
