Lovejoy was signed as a depth player and isnt even being paid 3 mil its hardly an overpayment. Its not like he was brought in with notions of him being a top 4 guy.... - Shampoo

There is a human element to running an organization that our blogger seems to miss the boat on. You cannot treat players...families and such like hockey cards that you discard the moment you are done with them(lose an ounce of value). Any organization that wants to act as our blogger suggests time and time again with players would have everyone lining the streets to leave the city. It's nice to sit here and look at graphs and charts and even watch games and play armchair gm. but I'll tell you right now, you cannot for one second treat players and their families like trash and dispose of them in the way ppl here sometimes discuss.
Not every signing works...not every player that is marginally better wants to play here...there is a ton going on that seem to escape our armchair gm analytic guru bs blogger. A few more positive blogs and some fun conversation about the team would be nice once and a while. - taleisyreXIII
People are fired for being bad at their jobs in EVERY industry. What the (frank) makes hockey any different? That's an absurd way to think. Are you going to hire a bricklayer that lays bricks all uneven and awful just because he has a family to support? No, you're going to find someone who can actually do the job right. That's some god damn retarded logic right there. |

Agreed
In Video games you can sign a Free Agent and 10 games into the season trade him for picks in the next draft
In theory, you could bench a guy indefinitely until he agrees to terminate his contract
You can churn your roster constantly, flipping guys without no trade clauses all around the country
You can do all these things in real life too, but if you did, you’d never get a FA to sign here, all your existing players would want iron clad no trades and the thought of them taking any kind of discount would be a fantasy
The environment would be toxic and it would likely end up in more losses than it would wins
For every “oh man, why didn’t we sign that guy to XXX dollars?” Well, maybe that guy didn’t want to come here, maybe the player had his own reasons for signing where he did

More rumors of Paccioretty and Pittsburgh. I dont think that Brassard for Patches, 1 for 1, makes Pittsburgh better. |

Rumblings remain over Max Pacioretty’s future with the Habs, as we’ve heard the Penguins have recently inquired about his availability.
Mindful of Pens cap situation, salary would need to go back in a potential deal. |

Brassard, hagelin, 1st? Doesn’t seem like much, but that’s the most I’d go. rather keep sprong and the other prospects than having pacs for just one year |

Personally, I'd just keep Brass and play him at LW if that's what Patches cost. It's a sellers market for centers and the Habs don't have any. They're way more desperate for a C than we are for a LW. Brassard instantly becomes their #1.
At this point I'd keep Brassard and play him at C and LW depending on the need or game situation. I'd only move him if I felt I was getting the better end of a the deal. |

I expect Jack Johnson to be something like Hainsey at first. Hopefully better. I'm fine with the money given ($3.25M) and not so much for the term. - Barnaby36
I'm so damn tired of the Johnson sucks drama. It's almost as bad as growing up to my mother watching days of our lives. Its gonna be the same dudes who say "I told you so" If hes good or bad. Such crybabies. Can only imagine how their boyfriends feel. |

People commenting on an internet thread about nhl players sucking.
Well, they probably appreciate the attention & probably don't give 2 (frank)s.
People in every job can be deficient & keep their jobs. How many times has anyone complained about bad service? Well guess what, those employees that are giving that bad service are still employed to Do so, so their boss employs them for a reason - & it doesn't have to be explained to you or I.
DSP was playing in the AHL for the Rags if my memory serves. So should that organisation be fired? He played very well to win a Cup.
Carlson was getting paid with or without a Cup. The Caps chose to keep him dûe to what was available in my opinion. With or without a Cup. You can dispute that either way, but what were their choices? Market rates aren't cheap & the player fit their system. Some would call that a good signing. Orpik? Terrible contract when he signed? Caps have been consistently good without a Cup, now they have 1. Was that worth it?
I think playing for the Pens increases a players value more than a Cup. How many players leave the Pens to sign better contracts? |

Some on here just berate players, I think they think it makes them look like they know something. It's classic.
I can't see Brassard finishing the season with the Pens unless injury hits us. Cup run or not, if a situation arises where JR is going to like it, I think he'll pull the trigger immediately. The better Brassard plays the more valuable he is. Hence getting C depth. The Same can probably said for She-man. |

My point exactly. I don't see a need to pay a premium to get him.
I'll take the two way center who scores 20-25 goals over the LW who will score a few more goals (as he wouldnt even play on the first PP unit) and costs more money.
The next question is, would you trade Maatta for him?

I think they'd riot in Montreal, but yes I'd do that. Honestly, I hate the thought of two high value UFA's walking for nothing.

JR has said previously when he makes a trade it is made with a plan that benefits the team for more than just that season. I doubt very much he trades for a rental unless it's with a rental. He may have enquires 6 months ago, it doesn't clarify when the enquiries were made. |

Leo’s a pretty good defensive forward, of course his analytics are lower blinding some due to him going up against the top players in the league almost every shift.
Need to use more then a graph to make a team. |
