Neal is exactly what the Flames needed

I honestly dont care if its a bad contract in 4 or 5 years...at some point you gotta piss or get off the pot. Flames forward depth has greatly improved

What's significantly more expensive in Canada? Gas?
Housing? Depends where you live, if you're in a metropolitan city, the housing is gonna be just as pricey

As a Canadian living in the US, just the ones that come to mind:

Gas. Groceries. Alcohol. Tobacco. Elecrticity. Clothing. Cars.. most other consumer goods for that matter. Average real estate is slightly higher in Calgary than Vegas.

Health insurance is not cheaper, but is provided by the employer-team.

Either way, none of these things probably matter to a millionaire. He probably made his decision because of the term offered.

Significantly higher if you're straight up comparing the CAD number to the USD number. Slightly higher if you're converting it.

I agree. Tre had to make a big splash after that flop last year. Now let's see what Peters can do with this group.

I like that there is no NTC or NMC in his contract. If he doesn't mesh with the teams as planned then Tre has no restrictions to move his contract out. That being said I hope the guy scores 30 goals this year and at least 5 of those against the COilers.

I'm not an accountant, but the rumour was that Vegas was offering him 5X5. Is he actually making less money playing in Alberta since they have an income tax and Nevada doesn't? Is it just an ego thing where the actual money he makes doesn't matter since it's a ridiculous amount, and it's more important that the number on the contract is bigger?

Not an accountant but in USD (using google for conversion for CAD taxes) the after tax income is:
Nevada @ 5x5 = $3.065million
Alberta @5.75x5 = $3.01 million

Not enough to make a decision.

Yeah Neal is a tough player that plays with an edge and can score goals!! I'm sure he'll be moved around from line to line. Look forward to him and Chucky playing on the same line.

Not sure about the fit anymore but there is still rumors circulating that Maroon could be destined to the flames. At this point if we could get him on a cheap 1 year deal does anyone pull the trigger? You would have to think if this was happening we would be buying out Brouwer.

I think hes always wanted to play for the Blues so if they cant free up cap space would he take a one year deal and try to circle back to them next year?

I don't expect anything to happen until we sign some of our RFA's.

For those wondering here are the links suggesting the fit and mentioning the rumors.

Between

Chucky
Bennett
Neal
Maroon
Smith

Makes for pretty scrappy group and definitely makes us harder to play against.

For the right price and contract length I could get on board with this.
