I stand corrected on Salary, the rest is correct. When ANYONE thinks of the N.Y. Rangers, they didt think of Rick Nash or Brad Richards, so lets be realistic - MiloslavHorava
I did actually. I thought of Rick Nash every second of everyday wondering if this guy would ever score a big goal for us. So that’s at least one person |

Nash had 18 shots on goal in the finals, Richards had 15.
They led the NYR in shots on goal.
Neither one scored. But, Lundvqist is to blame for not beating the Kings |

These last few contending teams had the terrible habit of losing their heads. Two goal leads, never getting the puck, etc. It all ended vs Ottawa where they played like chickens without heads leaving Hank out to dry game after game.

Stop... We need to embrace this rebuild. Stop kidding yourself about the next 2 seasons. And you do realize with what I laid out you may give up assets to Ottawa but with the idea you acquire way more in return flipping just Karlsson right?
I don't get why people are so scared of taking on a bad contract. It is an asset for us right now. If taking on Ryan gets us EK, whom we can sell off at half salary, we'd get laughable amount of future assets in return. You can turn to any team and ask for their top 2 prospects a 1 and a 2. EK at $3.25M turns any one of Toronto, TB, Bruins, Penguins, Sharks, into THE favorite to win the cup. Ottawa stupidly wants to package EK with that anchor of a contract, and we should take full advantage of that stupidity, even if the plan is to buy Bobby Ryan out after 2 seasons. Just need to ensure we are truly getting can't miss prospects and have a deal in place for EK ahead of time. - mrhattrick27
So when everyone said Vegas would suck they went to the finals. Is it completely unreasonable to think for some reason the Rangers don't suck next year?
So you want a late round 1+2 with some prospects? I am not sure taking on Ryan is worth that, especially if the rebuild is quicker than expected.

To answer your question. Yes. 100% yes, thats what all rebuilding teams want. Especially if "some prospects" are A level prospects like I described.
Vegas doing well is fools gold for all these other teams. You can't point to them and say "Oh hey! We might actually be great next year, who knows!"
I mean (frank), I can turn around and say "Hey Bobby Ryan could actually live up to that contract once on the Rangers!"
We need to deal in reality and what will most likely happen. If you are that afraid of potentially hurting the Rangers chances to succeed this season or next, rather than getting top prospects and picks which is what a rebuilding team should be doing, then I can't help you.
Maybe we shouldn't shop Spooner than either? Cause who knows! We may be good this year and can use him.
Jim on Twitter was right, maybe NY really can't handle a true rebuild. |

The only Goalie I can remember winning it almost on his own was Giguère in 2007. He also almost willed his team to win it in 2003. He won the damn Conn Smythe in a losing effort.
But then look at his regular season stats. - JRR1285
Giguere had Niedermeyer, Pronger and Selanne. Plus two good young players in Getzlaf and Perry. |

Some fans are just impatient or dumb, it’s one or the other
They’re doing this correct. Just have to see if they’re getting the right talent. That’s the scary part, we won’t know for a couple years |

And look, if you want to argue with me that Bobby Ryan's contract isn't worth it because dealing with years 3 and 4 of the deal will be too much, I can accept that.
But to say you don't want to because who knows, we could be really good this year! Is really kidding yourself. |

The Karlsson trade discussions have heated up significantly over the last 24 hours. Told Vegas still very much in mix. Rangers no longer part of equation. Other teams involved in race. |

Rick Nash had 3 god damn goals in the 2014 playoffs. All 3 came in once series vs the softest team the Rangers played in the run to the SCF.
Rick Nash's 1st goal cam in 7-2 blowout win. His being he 7th goal.
Rick Nash's 2nd goal came in in a 3-1 win. His being the 2nd goal of the game
Rick Nash's 3rd goal came in 7-4 loss to the Habs in game 5. His being the 3rd goal
You wanna know the Rangers didn't win in2014. Look right there. Their goal scorer went scoreless for 22 games. End of Story. |
