Gotta love Penguin fans guy on EK's update thread wants EK, Ryan and Ottawa to retain salary for Ryan for Schultz, Hags, Sprong and a 1st.
- dman78

This one is worse on the other end of the spectrum:

To OTT: Jacob Trouba, Dmitri Kulikov, Kristian Vesalainen, Bryan Little, 2019 1st round pick, 2019 3rd round pick, 2020 2nd round pick

To WPG: Bobby Ryan, Erik Karlsson

Wonder what the return would be. Also surprised we haven’t taken on any bad contracts for some picks/prospects

Oh yeah always get a kick out of these trade offers Living in NY and listening to fan it's Daily deGrom to Yankees absurdity. People always want to trade their garbage or try and fleece the other team.

I wouldn't want to take on any bad contract's like Ryan's 4yrs at 7 mil plus is hard to swallow even if you get a decent pick or prospect save cap space for a latter time.

Have to assume Honka is part of the deal, maybe Lindell, but unlikely. Would be shocked if Miro Heiskanen is in it but that is who Ottaw should target. Maybe Riley Tufte, possibly Gurianov or Robertson?

If it’s a sign and trade without Ryan going back Heiskanen would have to be involved I would think.

Any contract with 1-2 years left I would take.

Makes a hell of a lot more sense than taking 4 years of Ryan, I can't think of any GM stupid enough to eat $7.25 for 4 years. That's telling your fan base to not bother rooting for us.

Agreed. Not sure anyone in the Ranger front office truly knows what they are doing. They seem paralyzed by this notion of total rebuild.

What they’re doing is quintessential to a rebuild. Not signing and over paying for anyone like the rest of the leauge is. I agree they do need to get some dooshbagary but losing out on Martin isn’t the end of the world.

Does it even matter tho? With Hank they’ll lose most games regardless

Obviously depends on what they’re adding.

On the plus side, if we had Ryan here for 4 years on that contract people would gain a whole new appreciation for Nash!!! Am I right, Tom?? TJ??

Andersson Chytil will be on ELC for 3 of the 4 years. Hajek Lindgren will be on ELC for at LEAST 3 of the 4 years depending if they play this year or not. Kravtsov will be on an ELC. It’s actually doable IMO. Not saying we should or shouldn’t, but if the addition to the deal is worth it we might be one of the few teams that COULD do it.

Suppose we take Ryan regardless of what player we get as well, and things turn around after next season or by 2nd season TDL and we don't have the room to add an important piece? What then? I don't see the Rangers being as bad as the Sabers for that long. Look at the Avs.

Luke DeCock:
Hurricanes have agreed to terms with free-agent defenseman Calvin de Haan, per source. Four years, $18.2 million. Left-shot D completes top two pairings.

We have a TON of cap room. I get what you’re saying, but I still think we’d be able to pull it off with all the young guys that will be playing with ELC’s.

ELC are only 3 years. They slide if player entering a ELC plays less than 10 games coming out of CHL. Rules differ with college players, age and European players.

Right, so Chytil and Andersson play on ELC for 3 of the 4 years Ryan would be here. Hajek as well unless he doesn’t play this year and he would be on an ELC in years 2,3,4 that Ryan is here (assuming he’s on the team next year)
