Even though Tortorella and Kekalainen are really, really overreacting (although that's what Torts does, especially with Pittsburgh), Rutherford has somehow missed the fact that Johnson has been a terrible NHL defenseman for years now, and Johnson has kinda forgotten that he did not exactly contribute to that "winning" culture that he doesn't think was there in Columbus. It's just one of those situations where you have four guys involved who are all basically making themselves look like idiots. |

What are you even talking about?
Not sure why you are comparing Tatar and Nylander.
Also not sure you understand how offer sheets work. - Feds91Stammer
If you read back a comment said it would be dumb to give up 4 1st round picks as he was referencing the old rules on compensation. So I was referencing a trade that gave up very close to the same package and most that talked about it said it wasn’t that bad for either team. Was pretty much saying id give up a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd for Nylander in a heart beat. Not sure how that makes it seem that I don’t know how offer sheets work though???? Yes I know all 3 picks have to be the pens own picks as I stated, yes I know he has to accept it as any contract has to be accepted by a player. Would I still offer sheet Nylander today... yup I would. |

Well... Cullen for the minimum is a no risk move. Likely won't be of good use but we always say "why not" to those near no cost contracts if they can give a spark or a few months of their former glory.
JJ... gotta hope our coaches and scouts were right on this move.
Also, holy poop is it tough to use this site on Disney Wifi... actually this site just sucks for mobile. |

I can understand Rutherfords comment being somewhat "offensive". Although, I think Rutherford was simply defending his player and the ridiculous over-reaction to his contract. As far as Johnson's comments.... Those thoughts have been expressed a thousand times whenever a player escapes a bad team/situation. For instance, Garret Cole basically said the same thing when he escaped the Pirates for the Houston Astros. Nobody in Pittsburgh noticed or cared. Our loser coach and GM probably recognized it as truth and kept their yaps shut.
Torts is a cartoon character. He's been living off one cup so many years ago. Ever since his teams have under achieved while he behaves like a child. They under-achieved in New York. He embarrassed himself in Vancouver and now Columbus still can't get out of the first round after being up 2-0 against Washington. JJ is correct about the losing culture under that buffoon. I guess the truth hurts.
Panarin wants to leave. Karlsson blooms after leaving. Cole didn't resign. I think Torts should be focused on those recent slaps to the face. |

Being last among a pretty special group (guys who have forged long NHL careers while logging big minutes) doesn't make you "THE worst impact defender," it makes you either the tallest midget or the shortest giant, either of which is likely worth $3 mil a year in today's NHL. - hardnosed
This is a (frank)ing retarded way to think. |

Offer sheets AAV is based of total amount of contract/# of years or 5, which ever is lower. so a 7 year 8.11m would be over 11m aav.
Therefore it would be 4 first round picks. |

People keep fixating on the money aspect of the JJ signing. IMO it’s not the money, it’s the fact the Pens have a bad player on the roster. |

That tells you more about the incompetence of GMs than it does the quality of the player imo. - Feds91Stammer
Well when it comes to incompetent GM's GMKH def comes to mind. Green, Vanek, and Bernier... Ouch |

Every team has 1 at least, but in true RW/HB fashion.....the fate of the Pens lies squarely on shoulders of the 4th line RW, 3rd pairing Left D and the starting G in WB. |

His skill set does fit the Pens nicely though. I didn't want him, but I'll wait and see. |
