Berglund = Pominville , 3rd
Great trade - gerbe75pts
You're the one who talks up Nylander all day long. You should be ecstatic about that deal. |

O'reilly is Pominville when the Sabres trade him to Minnesota.
Pommers was a consistent 60 pt player for us, then we traded him. He gave Minnesota one 60 pt season, then declined by 10 pts per year until he became what he is now. That's what is going to happen with O'reilly. Three years from now, he'll be putting up less than 40 pts and still be being 7.5 million. We dodged a bullet here. |

It was a horrible trade tell me if your a blues fan right now do you miss any of that ? No you would be laughing calling your GM a God
Exactly - gerbe75pts
OK, so you think the Blues won the trade today, ok. But their goaltending is pretty bad, don't see them going past first round with that anyway. So be happy to lose in the first round! We want more than that!
This trade is (obviously) about the future. While getting NHL talent to help fill out roster the next few years to allow guys to properly develop. I dont think GMJB is done, so as people have told you, this is not the team in the fall.
Our prospect pool looks really good right now, really happy with that. It is a strength again, which is really important on an up and coming team like this. |

Larsson and Girgs can both be traded for whatever draft picks we can get. Beaulieu can be waved and sent to Rochester.

Thank you.... ROR would have been our 3rd line centre here by 2020-2021 at the latest. I'd rather get the return we got now then have to buy him out when he declines exponentially. He was a good player for us the past few years, but those years are done. We are focused on this year and in the future. We did good. |

No, we got a 1st, 2nd, and two prospects. They got two decent seasons out of Pommer before he turned into a bag of chit. We won that deal. |

just because they are 3rd liners on a decent team, doesn't mean they are 3rd liners here
and of course if moved up a line or extra pp time, their numbers are better here then st louis |

SO would you be fine with
Middlestadt
1st
2nd
Risto
Bogosian
for
60 point 2 way center.
Because that is what you were asking the Blues to do for ROR. |

Agree with you both. He would have been 3rd line center and losing PP time. So there goes the points. So he would be expected to be a shut down 3rd line center making $7.5m. Then if we wanted to trade we would be giving up the 2nd round pick (or 1st) to take him.
Potentially 3 first round picks next year could help keep that prospect pool very fresh and deep. As most have said here for years, the prospect pool is about getting ~15-20 guys in there and hope 2-3 hit big. Anything after pick 10 can be treated this way. Sure there are solid guys at 10-20 in draft, but there are a lot of misses too. |

Eh, they have to hit on the late first, and hope Berglund's production continues into his mid 30s. Let's be honest, St. Louis got the best player in the trade without giving up any players of value - Thomas, Kyrou, Parayko, Fabbri, Schwartz. We got a couple spare part forwards (I do like Berglund), a b prospect and picks. Looks pretty good for St. Louis at this point. - jcragcrumple
You people are forgetting we have our own nice crop of young players/prospects.
The sky isn't falling, as some might like to believe. |

I think the piece you are leaving out of there is that we took back a lot of celery. Also, I would have taken Zads and Compher over Thompson and pick. I don't love the trade but I get it. - Slump Buster
That pick has the chance to be Brock Boeser or David Pastrnak. I have faith in Botts drafting ability. Too early to tell mostly, but I like what he's done so far. |

Nonsense. O'Reilly has played huge, difficult minutes for this team largely surrounded by garbage. The guy led the league in icetime for forwards two seasons ago. Even strength goals is the stupidest ****ing argument I've ever heard. Berglund is nowhere near the player O'Reilly is. Don't be one of those fans that starts poo pooing on a player immediately after he's traded. It's a very poor look.

I don't feel it has to look like poop. We just need to move out some bums and finally let the youth play.
Sheary-Eichel-Reinhart
Olofsson-Mitts-Okposo
Erod-Berglund-Bap
Wilson-Sabotka-Pommers
Nice mix of vets and youth, we'll be fine.
