Rowney wishes he was Cullen. Terrible comparison. - acdc1206
The only thing that is terrible about that comparison is that both players were terrible last year.

Cullens leadership and pk ability will be welcomed. I think we got younger (assumed ZAR, Simon, and Sprong will be playing.a bit) and we have always done well with mid tier signings so hopefully we dominate next season with the little bit of rest we obtained. |

I think the Flyers made a mistake. It's not that JVR won't be good for them and help their scoring, but the Flyers didn't have a problem scoring goals; they had trouble stopping them. I know players have to be available, but if I were the Flyers I'd be hunting for a goalie upgrade. |

A solid D and goalie. Maybe we'll get some of those fast-paced 10-8 games this year. |

Signed three others too! W/B bound I figure; Jimmy had a couple decent years and has size. |

Yea he probably has a small chance to make it but most likely just injury call up from baby pens. |

I just went the Pens' site. Two-way deal. Pretty solid move IMO. He'll be a good call-up. |

Rutherford and Johnson's interview is up.
He essentially said they have analytic guys and eye-guys and the analytics show nothing on Johnson. Also, his benching at the end of the year had nothing to do with his play, sounded like a beef with Torts. Brought Cullen in to play center or wing and responded the same way with Sheehan and Brassard. |

They show nothing on Johnson? Do you mean they feel the analytics on him aren’t accurate?

Don’t you know that a gm and coach have nothing to do with team success? Clearly poop bloggers are way more intelligent |

So I've brought this up a few times and I'm not sure the Pens are going to keep Oleksiak. Seems very odd what should be a pretty easy signing hasn't happened yet.
The Pens have a little more than $4M free right now, but I'd say they try and keep around $1M free for deadline deals.
IMO there's $3M on the table and I wonder if they're hunting an RD to go with JJ. Sadly, outside of Green who would cost too much, there's not a great crop of RDs that would fit the Pens.
Something just feels like they may be trying to pull something off. Maybe not major, but something.
EDIT: Forgot Green re-signed - Rinosaur
Rutherford did mention he's not closed the door on a trade. Said teams that didn't get what they wanted in FA will now look to the trade market over the next 2-4 weeks. I don't think he's done either.
We're still sitting on two assets that several teams need. A young goalie with starting potential and a good 2nd line center.
I don't want to part with either, but bringing back Cullen is kind of a strange move. If someone wants to overpay, I'd consider moving Brass.

Jimmy Hayes is insurance in case Daniel Sprong can't make the big team. Unless we trade Kessel and sign Tavares. |

- disappointed there wasn't enough on the JJ signing in the blog. No graphs &/or charts? What. A. Bargain.
- We got our vet minimum player! I doubt you could get any more minimum for this vet (42 years old God love him & his walking stick & hearing aids ) |

On the Penguins website through the video button there is a five minute video with gmjr opening and then Johnson speaking. Then gmjr gets into the particulars. For your second question, not accurate. They said they watched him extensively; Crosby barely factored into the decision. |
