I’m feeling like this will be the year we see what this team ACTUALLY is. Last year damn near everything went wrong, the year before that damn near everything went right. This year ought to give us the mean.

Even getting league average special teams results equates to around a +29 jump in goal differential. That by itself is enough to get us to being a bubble team. Further, factor in how those 29 goals would've impacted the confidence of Talbot or momentum in a game and it's not a huge leap to envision a playoff result. This team died on the sword of its special teams last year; I can't imagine we'll be close to league worst in both again.

It’s certainly not a leap. I stated that pretty plainly. We’ve got Connor who can own games by himself.
Talbots a good goalie and ups and down are part of the position . Special teams can go nowhere but up really

I just think on paper today we’re on the outside looking in and a lot of things need to go right to change that. If san Jose gets skinner, that’s another big hit to our chances

Problem is the team hasn't improved much if at all. Still rumours of Risto.
Other teams in the Pacific and West have improved on paper. Neal signed in Calgary.
I'm happy Chia hasn't done anything really stupid, but he hasn't done anything to help either.

I think it’s the added scoring and depth up front that Calgary needed badly, and probably just got, that scares me the most from them

LA added kovalchuk who I’m extremely confident still has gas in the tank. 20 and 50 for sure imo

If this season goes to poop and ownership plans to torpedo management/coaching then I hope they go for a short term re-tool, get Sekera and Lucic the (frank) out of town before the next expansion draft, make space for good FA signings post-expansion and sell assets that don't fit that time-line for futures that don't need to be protected during expansion.

Yeah this is the season we need him to step up but as of right now I haven't seen any evidence that it's a lock to happen... especially if he isn't getting PP mins and is put on the third line again...

he could have made the team last year, im pretty sure they just wanted to get him out of the fragile zone in terms of size lol get him another 10-15 lbs skill wasnt an issue
