Basically we replaced hunwick with hunwick at a million more but with a hope of true upside. I wouldn’t have signed him but Johnson talent is interesting for a team that has succeeded on the garbage bin of defenseman. Cap is going up. Worse case if we buy him out after 2 years we have a cap charge of like a million a year for a while.

Kessel did not play well with Sheahan.

How much veteran leadership do you need? Crosby, Malkin, Letang have all been in the league 10+ yrs each.....I just dont buy that argument at this point.

I’m already doing buyout numbers. So I don’t love the deal, but the downside isn’t terrible. And a buyout after three years is likely stretching into rebuilding years.

1 million in bad cap when the caps at 90-100 is manageable.

It’s just a question of whether he’s functional at all.
