Cole was a healthy scratch and got 4.25 - jchst22

I think Kadri’s better then Brassard...but I don’t think JT / Matthews as good as Sid/Gene IMO nor do the Leafs have the D to go far in the PO’s.....yet. - Garnie
I agree 100% on the Kadri take |

The analytics group must be going absolutely fooking bonkers today haha
Beagle 4 years 3m per
Roussel 4 years 3.25m per
Vanek 1 year 3m
Ryan 3 years 3.2m per
Reaves 2 years 2.775m per
Johnson 5 years 3.25m per
Grabner 3 years 3.35m per
Polak 1 year 1.3m
Take it for what it is... And if you look at the most respected insiders most of those guys had 3-6 offers on the table. Even John chayka is in on a couple of those! - pens4life-66
Chayka is in on exactly one of these - it’s Grabner. Chayka also has a team with all the cap space in the world (for now) where he needs a couple puzzle pieces to compete. Maybe he’s done with just getting Grabner, wouldn’t surprise me seeing as how they have a ton of young, talented players |

That’s a coaching issue - not a player issue. Cole had a great season (relative to his cap hit)
JJ was also healthy scratched in lieu of Cole soooooo |

I like your confidence because I too believe it to be true... Also like seeing semi to fully postive posts.
JJ isn't gonna make or break this team, either was moving Sheary to make room.
I don't think JJ can be any worse than he has anywhere else. I think with the Pens system and personnel, theres a chance we see a slight improvement in his stats... If only just in production. - MattStrat
I don't really get all the drama over a 3mil player. It's not the way I would have spent those cap dollars, but people are acting like it will cripple this team. With a longer summer, the Pens are going to be one of the top teams in the conference. |

I didn’t make it clear but per dreger who most think is very respected he was in on 3 of them. Vanek, grabner and beagle. Sure he only got 1 of them but to think all those players only got 1 offer and signed it I’d bet isn’t true. |

I'm still not seeing the JJ deal anywhere. I saw someone mention sportsnet, but nowhere else has. Are we still holding out hope? |

In Hollywood lore, cousin Oliver was the reason The Brady Bunch ended up being cancelled; now in Penguins lore, Jack Johnson will be the reason the Pens chances of winning the Cup will be forever cancelled. |

I disagree with you on many things Ryan but I do agree that JJ is not worth it. Hopefully it works out somehow but I think this may hurt the Pens really bad for a long time. |

Thank you!!!!
This team was a break or 2 away from going to the Eastern Conference finals. They have 2 of the best players in the world and by signing Johnson solidified their defense.
I really don't know why people are worried about the 5 years. There are always teams willing to take bad contracts of your hands |

GOOD FOR REAVES!!! Nice to see players like this get rewarded. You can choose to be a whiny little female dog like our resident blogger but I’m happy when I see guys who give it everything get rewarded. |

I'll tell you this, De Haan is gonna get PAID. I'm not happy about the JJ signing, but it's looking like the Pens would not have been able to get him. My get is he gets $6M per year. |
|

Robert Thomas (the 1st round pick in 2017 the pens traded for reaves), has a legit chance of making the blues lineup and is one of their best prospects. Blues GM speaking highly about him.
That could have been our possible 3rd line center for the future |

Likely. Green exceeded my expectations so at this point de Haan is gonna get over 6 mil. |

Teams are willing to take bad contracts, but it costs a lot to move them. In the pens case, it cost them a cheap 20+ goal scorer. Sheary could have easily been traded for solid dman or a higher draft pick |
