Anyone want McDonough for 7 years? - Aussiepenguin
That's a contract that will suck sooner than later. |

If JT signs with Toronto (10-15million range) they would be moving pieces out next year when they have to pay Auston Matthews who will also get in the 10-15 million range. It makes you wonder if he will ask out of Toronto if they bump him to the 2nd line (not everyone is ok with it). Which is good for us short term(since they wont be able to sign good defensemen which is their biggest team need and will tie up a lot of money in their top 2 centers). Long term it may be like a Crosby Malkin duo but I see them losing a bunch of players due to raises. I hope he signs with SJ though - 123Kid
There really isn't a big difference usage minutes and PP wise for the first or second line in Toronto.
All this said I think the biggest winners in free agency are the teams that do nothing, or nothing big. Watch the Tavares announcement come out the second I post this. Lol |

Also heard Jack Johnson took less money to sign with the Pens - 123Kid
Look at those FA prices today
I’m very happy with JJ at 3.25. Feels like a steal |

he didn't like his ice time being diminished as it was... how will he feel if JT takes more of it away...
Crabcock had to go to AZ to have a talk with him or something like this didn't he... chemistry is important... Geno and Sid work cuz Geno doesn't have an ego about the playing time and doesn't cause trouble...

Is Jack Johnson your new whipping boy? He is coming to a great team with elite players around him. He has never played on a team with talent like this. You need to quit using all the numbers |

The analytics group must be going absolutely fooking bonkers today haha
Beagle 4 years 3m per
Roussel 4 years 3.25m per
Vanek 1 year 3m
Ryan 3 years 3.2m per
Reaves 2 years 2.775m per
Johnson 5 years 3.25m per
Grabner 3 years 3.35m per
Polak 1 year 1.3m
Take it for what it is... And if you look at the most respected insiders most of those guys had 3-6 offers on the table. Even John chayka is in on a couple of those! |

I'll agree with that however they have huge holes on D. I'm not worried about the Pens being a top contender at all. - madmike71
I like your confidence because I too believe it to be true... Also like seeing semi to fully postive posts.
JJ isn't gonna make or break this team, either was moving Sheary to make room.
I don't think JJ can be any worse than he has anywhere else. I think with the Pens system and personnel, theres a chance we see a slight improvement in his stats... If only just in production. |

Some people are way too hung up on analytics and team stats. This blogger is one of them. Are NHL GM's not capable of logging on to the internet and looking up some stats, reading a spreadsheet or a chart? |

A 5 year deal though for johnson is ridiculous. No need to sign a 31 year old healthy scratch for 5 years. |

There'll be cap hit free CBA buyout periods before then... |

And can you imagine Crosby or Malkin telling the pens he’s not coming back. Isles just lost their franchise player and are even more of a dumpster fire than before |

Even though this is a bad example because he was younger, but look at Cole. He played for STL and he didn't have as many hits he didn't have as many blocked shots and he was a whipping boy because he turned the puck over and STL had a pretty good cast around him. He came here and his blocked shots and hits went up significantly. He also was pretty solid on the breakout. So I agree that I think personnel and even a change for JJ might be good for us. He already dishes out hits and blocks shots well. For 3 million in this free agent market I think JR did well |
