need a #1 defenseman and a goalie. or theyll just be like the recent islanders teams..

Goalies are always a roll of the dice... Their lack of effort to even draft one is kind of suprising though

I agree and it shouldn't be that hard finding a taker on one of the better goal scorers in the league and even get a decent return for him... Gotta think he's waiting until after the FA dust has settled to make that move now, after JVR and co. have all signed somewhere

My concern is that idiot still thinks he's built a contender. His grossly misplaced pride wouldn't have him believe otherwise.

That's without a doubt the crossroads we find ourselves at, I'm hoping the process starts right away but I would guess another bottom 10 finish leading to his firing next off season and then hopefully the hiring of someone willing to do it the right way

I'd only be willing to move Lindgren this time

But goalies are unpredictable, not sure what he and McNiven will be yet, gotta hang on to both

goalies have little value, not worth trading them at this point.

Exactly, no point in trading a good goalie prospect for a 4th round pick... like I said, I'd include Lindgren in a deal if the team was really pressing for a G

Matthews scored 40 his rookie year, Laine didn't do so bad either and there's plenty more examples of 18 year olds coming in and doing well... What you're failing to understand is I'm not asking for a championship team right away, I'm asking for steps in the right direction that will lead to progress and a team to be optimistic about

How did Mathews do in the playoffs? Not a criticism, he’ll figure it out, but hes young and still developing. Scoring goals and being a seasoned winner in the NHL are two different things.

Only in MTL would Riley Nash be considered an "experienced top 6 C"

I have visited HockeyBuzz for years and this is the first comment I’ve ever made. I’m not sure what credentials you have but you seem to know absolutely nothing about hockey. You want the habs to sign fringe players and aging players on the decline to deals that are 4-5 years so they are handicapped when they will need space down the road. Signing these three players won’t even make them an above average team. They need to build through young talent not UFAs that are below average players on big term. After all the good Habs bloggers that HockeyBuzz has had your articles are really embarrassing for the site.

Yea looks like they opted for the wait and just sign him approach instead of the always popular trade your franchise player so you can sign him a week early method! It was a tough call, could of went either way
