what a pile of garbage that was - DoubleDown
Dumped salary and kept all 3 of their top prospects. Love what the blues did yesterday. |

chances are if it hasn't been done by now, it's not happening this summer. - DoubleDown
That's not necessarily true... Maybe Bergevin is waiting on all the options to sign elsewhere so he gets max return for Max! Which would be smart! |

Look at what ROR fetched. Hard to see pacioretty get more - mr.peanut
The return on O'Reilly was reduced a bit because of the bonus the Blues paid him and also the fact that he's overpaid, which makes him in part a good acquisition and in part a salary dump |

I don't think he's overpaid at all. 60 point top 6 center, great at faceoffs, plays PP and PK and doean't take penalties. The bonus thing was overblown. If it were spread out over the season instead of a lump sum would it matter? |

or the teams that were initially interested in Pacioretty spent their money elsewhere in the last 2 days. |

maybe but in hindsight, it looks like Buffalo really wanted to unload him. |

There was the bonus thing. Anyway, mtl can take a bad contract if they get a first round pick as well. |

It's more the fact that St Louis agreed to make the deal prior to the bonus being paid out, at that point the bonus almost becomes an asset in the trade itself, mostly to the owner...
And I think he's overpaid a tad, which is why Buffalo had to take the salary dumps back, they couldn't find a taker to absorb his whole cap hit without sending cap crap back... |

Must be more than a money thing then considering they downgraded the middle 6 c ppsition and took onz salary. |

How many teams struck out on Tavares and are now looking for offence? |

The Blues seems like the team between the two that can't afford to pay a player $5 million in one shot |

The owner obviously pressured the GM to move him out before that bonus was due... Montreal and probably others fell out of the runnings so he pulled the trigger last minute for whatever the best offer was |

Calgary before they signed Neal... Florida has had an interest for awhile and didn't really do much this off season... And is Uncle Leo enough? And Filppula? NYI would most likely be interested and others I'm sure! Sharks would be great, a team that is aspiring for a championship with plenty of pieces the Habs would want |

Rumor is LA still have interest. A lot of teams would like to add scoring if they could. I mean, the Flyers went after JVR and already had a good offense. |

That's why they need to add a couple more good prospects at that position and one on each side of the D... It's what they need and then they can go back on the upswing |
