Yes, that's what i'm hoping for too. But a player you draft next year or the year after will be 4 years away from being an impact player on a cup contending team. So you still have to reach the cap floor for the next 4 years. Best way to do that is to get a bunch of bad contracts to be horrible as possible. Bobby ryan would be on my list lol.

I wouldn't go anything over 3 years and no contracts over 6 million... Ottawa will need to reach the cap floor too with the roster they'll be icing, so why give the Habs a really good assest to get rid of Ryan anyway?

Now they need to trade Pacioretty, or extend him right away. Next season is already a circus, can you imagine if they arrive at Golf tournament in September with status quo?

They are trying to use the Karlsson trade to get rid of the Ryan contract in the process, it's a little different... To each his own, theres plenty other contacts around the league but I'd stay away from that one, the Lucic & Ladd contracts and a few others, unless the return is ridiculous but what are we realistically talking about here?
