I hope so. Have should be taking advantage of their cap space and money they ave. Trade for Bobby Ryan and Marion Gaboric in Ottawa and get some assets and picks.
- cburgess

I'm all for taking on a bad contract or 2 but Ryan is beyond bad...

Apparently they still were after... No shortage of interest for Pacioretty I would think, Bergevin is just waiting for all the other options to sign elsewhere
- obie

Looking at what Sakic got for Duchene, by waiting out for a desperate team, maybe MB does likewise. Someone, somewhere will get desperate - bad start, injured players, countering another team's moves...

Patches will get traded, but I don't think there is a rush to make that happen.

In a perfect works, JT goes to the Sharks and the Habs get a boatload from LAK or Ducks. Oh well.

Not sure what you expect.

People wanted the Habs to take a more development approach and hire the right people to properly develop prospects. They did. People were saying the Habs should take on a bad contracts for extra picks / depth. They did. People did not want Habs to go nuts in free agency with bad contracts. They didn't (so far, at least).

They aren't going to turn this poophole around in 1 year, so not sure what people are expecting. MB is a mediocre GM (at best), but at least he is not throwing everything away in the hopes of just making the playoffs this year.

Maybe they see the light even more and Patches and Weber are gone before October. I don't see them trading Price, and that is not because of the contract.

- Mashadar

I guess i'm just frustrated because they are in no mans land right now. Price will keep you out of the basement so its tough to do a proper rebuild.

I was waiting for that Tavares signing to happen so that we would stop hearing about it, but now I guess we're really gonna hear about it

I suspect Molson is just waiting for a really bad begining of the season to clean house. He wants maximum pressure from the public to do so.

But now that the Sharks missed out on Tavares, maybe they pay up for Pacioretty

As long as MB does not make stupid signings and bad trades in giving away all the good assets for a win now mentality, he is likely safe for another year or two.

If he can unload Alzner this summer, he stays to the end of his contract.

Very high odds that your renting agreement with the owner ended June 30th/started July 1st. That is why, July 1st in Québec is national moving day.

Progression and development and high end additions to the prospect pool through the next 2 drafts and by finding new homes for #67, #6, #26 and #41 over the next 24 months... Steps in the right direction thats evident both on the ice and in the prospect ranks by the start of the 2020 season, that's what I'm looking for!

He isn't, but hes still makes them a better team then if it was antii neimi and steve mason in goal for them.

Now they need to trade Pacioretty, or extend him right away. Next season is already a circus, can you imagine if they arrive at Golf tournament in September with status quo?

Of course, but they still can suck with him. People are still paying to see the team. I don't think Steve Mason in net would be respectful of the fans.

Maybe they could go with a younger guy, try to see if they have a goalie of the future.
