Whitesox are actually possible in the off season. Dodgers may trade for him now. We'll see. - mrpaulish
I thought this last yea, but no chance the Sox get Manny now....they won't outbid other teams and how much closer will the Sox be next year? I suspect they'll be better, but not markedly....will be a team with nothing but kids and I doubt Manny wants to wallow in the muck for yet another team.
Personally, I'd like to get Arenado.... |

No way Kunitz gets you a good draft pick. Haha. - Hank3Henshaw
The barely played Kempny got us a third round pick, but you may be right
Honestly you guys are dreaming if you think there is a quick fix here, oh too be in denial |

Would love for that to happen. Machado is top 5-10 talent IMO.
Just nervous he's looking at the current Sox product and staying away. |

White Sox are very possible. Would have to sell him on the future. But they can literally offer him almost anything financially. Look at their payroll the next few years. If I was Rick Hahn, I would drop the hammer and throw out 10/400. |

Remember.... - DarthKane
You know Darth depending on term, 1 yr deal a must, Dan Hamhuis at 35 had a fine season last yr with DAL under Hitchcock, has a tad left in the tank and has tons of back class. I'd be fine with this guy to steady a pairing and serve as a bridge.
He logged 20:00 a night last yr FOR Hitchcock. |

Sounds like Dodgers are going to get him.
Was hoping he'd come to the Sox. - Hank3Henshaw
Why? What to do with Seager? Need Manny now. Seager back next season. And 3B? What to do with Turner...? LA would be only a rental for Manny. Not saying it won't happen (Chapman 2016...) but the Cubs would be smart to deal for Manny now if they want to up the offence. My take is they need starting pitching. Darvish is a bust like I thought, Q is just OK, Chatwood is a dumpster fire and Kyle is not doing well without Bosio. |

I don't think there is a quick fix, but I think there might be other options out there that could indicate steps in the right direction. Kunitz feels so random.
Can't wait for the announcement that they signed Versteeg to a multi-year deal |

There are a handful of teams in the mix for D John Moore, but he’s still up for grabs. |

What prospects do the Cubs have to get Manny? Their best prospect isn't even really that good.

Manny wants to play SS.
I'd be down with the Sox packaging Anderson and other assets in a deal to bring Machado here. |

• It doesn’t sound like defenseman John Moore is likely to sign with the Blackhawks. A league executive said Saturday night he believed Moore was considering the Boston Bruins and New York Islanders. |

Kunitz is a idiot move. Hawks don't need fourth line grinders....don't they have that. Of course, Kunitz is a wing too....oh goodie we thinking of slotting him top 6? |

Then you risk losing him in free agency? No frigging chance in hell I move Cease, Robert (or whatever package it would entail) and others for 3 months of Machado. |

Yea,
FraFra , Wolfie, Hank ,
Im a Cubs fan die hard since 81. Baseball is first true love. If the Whitesox outbid everyone this winter 10/400 they get a top 10 player in Machado . Machado in a line up with Moncada and Eloy ? Damn. Of course I hope it does not happen but it could.
Plus from the Cubs point of view , if Heyward is fixed at the plate there really is no room for Harper, would rather have Machado on a 10/350 deal. Could flip Russell for arms. Plus I think the Cubs are fed up with AR's off field antics. But he is a super star SS with club control remaining. |

Grabner Twitter is cracking me up - here’s the latest:
Well folks i have agreed to a deal, some details still being worked out tho..I am taking out the garbage at least once a week and wife will let me go play golf without getting mad #winwin |

All I keep seeing is a bunch of dudes talking about other dudes' size. - L_B_R
100% agreed with you LBR! Major obsession with size! Now having said that, if this same player(s) with size can skate with great edge work, hands good enough in tight moves, and more importantly think the game with great decisions to go with "win at all cost mentality" then you have that player(s) with size. Tom Wilson comes to mind as he really impressed me during the Cup; he need only enforced and protected Ovie's line but he flat out made plays. Just off hand I do not know that many that completely fits this bill.

Playing Rosenbloom here. Choice, and death is not an option. The WhiteSox or staying in Baltimore? Discuss.
For the south siders, it would have to be in FA IMO. They're not going to sell the farm that they have been building for a few years now. And in FA, that just doesn't seem like the FO's MO. What is their biggest deal ever, $68M.
And I would love to see Manny in the Cubs lineup, and they do have the pieces to send back, but not as a rental only. Did that once, Chapman. That is enough. But the Cubs need starting pitching. Pitch the ball, catch the ball. That is how a WS is won.

Sox WILL NOT be getting Machado. If this was 2 years from now maybe. He's not signing with a team that we JUST DON'T KNOW yet....and this off season the Sox will still be loaded with too many questions.....great prospects, but...
-Moncada striking out at alarming high rate
-Dunning injured? Potential TJS?
-Kopech can't throw strikes
It's going to take time for the aforementioned kids to sort things out, then there are other prospects like Cease, Stephens, etc... who are still not there yet.
Machado wants to play in October and get paid....there are plenty of teams who can offer both of those options, sadly right now the Sox are not one of them.
HOLD FAST with the rebuild...don't go for quick fixes. Machado is who you get when the rebuild is just about done, not in the early stages. |

Kopech is struggling because they want him to learn how to throw offspeed/breaking pitches. They don't want him relying on throwing smoke--which I'm OK with.
Moncada is scary because the dude is so hot and cold both at the plate and defensively. He also looks like he has an attitude problem.
Personally, I think another part of the issue is Ricky. I was hoping the Sox would have got Girardi when he was let go from the Yanks. |

Very good chance Kopech and Eloy will be up by September. A lot of players in the Sox organization are moving pretty quickly. The Cubs arrived a year early. Manny Machado is absolutely the type of player the Sox should look to add. He speeds the process up. The Sox are in a great spot to get next years #1 draft pick. Outside of Abreu, Avi, and James Shields, there is nothing left to gut out. |
