DeHaan would be a nice addition, but would require too much term, never have liked any deals longer than 4 years.
I don't worry about how much a player makes, if they are a useful player is what matters most. - Reubenkincade
We honestly don't need D
We have 8 and we have Hughes OJ Brisebous and Sautner very close to ready |

He's a 27 year old dman, 5 years wouldn't be as bad as giving 33 year old Beagle 3 years.
In a cap world, you have to care about how much a player makes.if the Canucks refuse to overpay for UFA's and end up losing out on their targets then so be it. Start calling up teams who want to unload bad contracts that are expiring either next summer or the summer after and acquire some picks/prospects for them.
It's 100 times better to get paid by another GM to take on an overpaid player than it is to sign your own overpaid player.

And what if Sutter is still here by this time next year, do you change your tune or do you still like Beagle at 3x3? |

I think you're overestimating the upside of Brisebois and Sautner, it's a win for the Canucks if they become solid 5/6 dmen. |

Beagle update : #Canucks still in mix but price and term keeps going up and up because so many teams involved. Not done to Vancouver.
Tap out, Jim. Control yourself. - Nucker101

not really set on defense, especially considering that a decent amount of prospects never even become nhl regulars. |

De haan Left side - VANTEL
Isles fans say that he has played on the right side before and looked fine.
He's a legit top 4 dman in his prime, I'd rather spend money on him than bottom 6 players |

Edler will be extended

We might be the minority, but handing a 33 year old UFA 4th line center, money + term, just seems very counter-intuitive to rebuilding. Meh, whatever will be will be. - Codes1087
I'm going to riot if we don't sign someone to a 6x6 contract.
Anyone see the Don? |

Doesn't sound like they're in on any dmen though. I like the idea of letting the overhyped bottom 6 players get paid by other GM's and instead focusing on the 2nd wave of UFA's for cheap to potentially use as sign and flips.
3M+ for Roussel, 2.5M+ for Beagle....
I don't know, personally I'd rather just sign 1 legit player instead like a De Haan or something and go penny pinching for depth with guys like Schaller/Calvert/Peca/Etc.
You end up spending close to the same too. - Nucker101

I think future looks like:
Joulevi - XXXXX
Hughes - Woo
Tryamkin - Stecher
Then hopefully between Chatfield, Brisbois, Sautner, Utonen, Rathbone and McEneny you get a player or 2 who can be a good bottom pairing or 7th guy.
If there is anyway that we could do Tanev for Dobson just get it done. Toss in a 2nd if you need to as he would give us that big minute top pairing guy we need. |

Yeah I just don't see a need to go get a Dman with term . I think we can grow our own as you are suggesting. I think we can tread water this year with the current D and start weaning them out one at time and keep drafting more
We can draft our Dobson next year |

If we could add a da haan then deal tanev i am all for it.. at this point there is no top pairing RHD in the next draft. Could always get lucky like the canes and find one later on.
Also, why I hope tavares goes to NYI maybe that would force them to moving someone out for immediate help. Sven and Tanev to NYI for Dobson and a cap dump not named ladd
Next year we get our number 1 center. Cousins or Hughes |

Wow this is F'n crazy
Beagles agent is gem. He is driving up the price of a 33 year old 4th line center into crazy term and AAV.
Like why are GM's competing over such a player. |

I am not sure you would get a proper return for Tanev right now.
He might be more useful on Canucks this year |

We are better to run with what we have on D. Rather that than get a UFA forcing a waiver risk unless disguised as a salary dump. Yer ears on Hutty? 😂😂 |
