lol wut... We are talking about a player's corsi that just won a cup.
- Codes1087

Yes but Beagle if he signs with us is not about Corsi nor a cup run. Plug

Corsi is bottom of my list 11/10x

Sutter has more offensive upside, so unless they're bringing Beagle in only to trade him off at this TDL I would hope they play them together so Granlund is spared having to play defense all the time.

If they trade Sutter and replace him with Beagle we will only get worse

- NorthNuck

I think most here would take Begale + late 1st(or 2nd + prospect) over Sutter

I'm still sceptical that they move Sutter though.

As am I. Theoretically that return for Sutter would be a good deal for us but who knows what the landscape will be this year, he very well may not fetch that much

I'd split up Boeser and Horvat actually, I didn't see a lot of chemistry between them. Boeser needs someone to feed him the puck and Bo is a powerforward. Lipstick or Baertschi aren't gifted enough playmakers for that to be a legit 1st line.

The one thing I'll say is that guys like Beagle and Sutter are actually good vets to have around while rebuilding(cap hits aside). They take a lot of the hard minutes and free up easier minutes for the rest of the lineup, which ideally would be filled with youth.

This is why Gagner is so annoying, he needs to be spoonfed PP time and easy 5v5 mins to produce, those minutes should all be going to younger players.

LE is annyoing too but at least he can play as a checker on the Sutter line.

Plus good teams will always have interest in guys like Sutter/Beagle at the TDL since they're easy to plug into your bottom 6 and coaches always beg their GM's for guys like them since they're safe players.

Beagle-Sutter-Eriksson

The line with the worst +/- in the NHL next year? Fine by me if the kids get to score lots

As ugly/overpaid as that line sounds, I don't think they'd be a bad checking unit by our standards.

Working on the assumption JT is a Leaf

Nylander might be needed to move for cap space due to the contract he is expecting. Traded in the east to any team with cap space is less likely & definitely not an inter-division deal. Hence goes out west to a team with cap space. Why trade Willy? For need & a cup push. What? Top 2D. Who? Tanev fits the bill but who else is available & at what cost & cap hit?

The above could mean Willie for Tanev+ or he stays put til next offseason. Another angle if Willie is traded is JVR could resign. Cap space going forward is what any trade hinges on if JT is a Leaf.

I am too unless a real home run. C depth is our problem & league wide there are not enough to go around even for PO teams.

If a cap dump & a needed roster spot.
Is that Martin?

it's not that simple.

A guy who scores 18 points making 1M is not more valuable than a guy who scores 65 points making 6M.

- Nucker101

Thats obvious. I guess I dont see a 6 mill cap hit as an anchor anymore. Maybe if he couldnt play in the league.

He had a down season. Lucic was much better in a different system.

I thought you were trolling. You’d honestly take Lucic’s contract over Beagle at 2.5M over 3 years?

I was realistically hoping they’d sign Rieder and Roussel instead

Willie/Martin for Tanev/Sven

Now before you all roast me...

Tanev fills a real need at a great price.
Sven comes cheap with a new contract.
Willie is the best player in the deal but next contract is a tough fit & Marner is no doubt much better to pay off.
Martin is a cap dump & easily replaced by internal talent.

Not so sure that gets it done but feel free to tweak the deal. Thx

I was hoping for one of Derek Ryan / Riley Nash (AAV and term permitting) / Rieder. Ultimately though, I would be just as happy if Jim kept his phone away and we just started taking calls on the Hossa's/Spezza's/Ennis's/etc contracts
