If we decided to tank hard for 1 more year it would still be dumb to sign Beagle unless we knew he could be traded this year at the TDL. - NorthNuck
I think we can get the Zamboni driver on a one year deal for league minimum |

I know most of the guys in here want nothing to do with Corsi, but Beagle had the worst Corsi in the entire NHL for players who played more than 50 games. Is it the be-all end-all of him as a player? No. But does it raise concerns/flags.. I would say so. - Codes1087

I'm guessing it's because he gets the puck out of the zone and is told to get off the ice. 1000 face-offs. |

Really? Do you think that extra year will affect EPs third year of ELC or Hughes third year?
If you want to really worry about a contract then start with Eriksson not a Gagner or a Beagle - VANTEL
bringinup Eriksson and Gagner's contracts is why I worry. 3.5 here, 6 million there, an additional 2.5 million for Beagle. One or two of these contracts won't make or break a team, but in a cap driven NHL, you should be maximizing (or trying to) your cap space as best you can. Beagle's contract at 3 years x 2.5 AAV isn't the worst contract in the world, it just accumulates with the likes of other contracts on the team that aren't nice, which all together = |

On a 3 year contract I can only see the negatives outweighing the positives, regardless of AAV |

i would find it odd if he signs for 3 years or more.
guys like him fetch good prices at the deadline. you guys should sign 3 beagles.
it's perceived soft players like vanek and gagner that get pennies. |

There is nothing wrong with Gagners contract .
Canuck signed three UFas last year. MDZ comes off the book this year and will probably be traded for a fourth rounder.
Gagner comes off the book next year . What you are missing is Sutter can now be traded at TDL for a first round pick to a playoff team and Gagner can hold the fort for one year with Vet leadership.
Like I said complaining about nothing

We might be the minority, but handing a 33 year old UFA 4th line center, money + term, just seems very counter-intuitive to rebuilding. Meh, whatever will be will be. |

I personally don't think Sutter is worth a 1st, or even a 2nd, but I tend to undervalue Canucks players pretty bad. If we can deal Sutter for something, and then sign a less expensive version of him in Beagle, sure, why not. |

Exactly. Maybe one can teach the other what the other doesn't know. Gaudette and Horvat can both start 75% in the ozone. |

Should have just signed him to a 1 year $7 million contract and gotten it out of the way.

Even if the #Canucks land Beagle, I am told they are not done adding grit.
Reaves? Who else? |

When I complained it was about signing two 32 year olds (not one) to a four year contract for 7.1 mil with full NMCs. I guess you pencil was broken that day Minivan. |

The #Canucks did call the agent for F Patrick Maroon and D Nick Holden. The calls were put in to see where the market was for those players, tire kicking stage. |

So according to Elliot Friedman the other guy we are expected to sign along with Beagle is Reaves to round out our 4th line.
Don Cherry is going to love us. |

Maroon was given an offer by Benning - VANTEL
So just to patch it all together
Benning "we want to be faster and younger. We want to emphasize speed and skill"
Benning in free agency - targets Beagle, Reaves, Maroon..
