Tavares is young enough that they should front end load his salary. Should be the same cap hit. instead of 8x11 go 15 15 15 15 15 5 4 4. Aaron 85 would this allow him to invest "safely" and make up some of the millions he would lose in tax? - jribout
Yes yes it would. Investing has no guarantees but sure why wouldn't it work? |

If the Leaf happen to sign Tavares.
Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Marleau-Tavares-Marner
Johnsson-Kadri-Brown
Leivo-The Goat-Kapanen
Martin
not sure about the 4th line

I hear the leafs are going to make a push for a offensive forward 30 goal scorer who is awesome on the PP. He has good size, is not afraid to stand in front of the net and is one of the most consistent scoring forward available in this years free agent crop...

Yeas Symba and Fake are right... but I'm not that guy.
I don't engage UG much at all. I will point out when he has said something wrong, or make a critical comment about one of his arguements, but I don't think you will find examples of me going down a rathole with him. (not recently anwyay)
He loves that stuff. No matter how misguided he is, or how right you are, you will never convince him, and you can't outlast him.
So... comment when he says something stupid, which is every post and leave it at that. - Aetherial

Nah. Freddy is too good of a goalie to allow that many goals a game. So they'll win games 7-2 or 7-3. |

Im ok with Tavares not signing in Toronto and signing in either dallas or san Jose.
Saves us 10 -11 million which is enough to get a good Dman and third line center.
Plus I dont want to trade Nylander yet. |

understand what you're trying to highlight... but is winning 7-5 really so bad? is it - for example - better than winning a game 2-1 or is it worse?
if playoff hockey were officiated anywhere close to what goes on during the regular season the entire argument for "defensive hockey" would be blown to bits.
high scoring free flowing is the direction the game is going everywhere and with hints of more changes to goalie equipment on the horizon... why are they doing that... to increase scoring.
now if the NHL just had the intestinal fortitude to MAKE their officials behave the same way in the playoffs... you know actually make the calls that are ALREADY IN THE RULE BOOK .. it wouldn't matter.

i don't believe adding a top 2-way center will result in worse team defense and more goals against. |

He can’t play up to his caliber if he faces as many shots as he did last year. Goalies that play that much and see that much action never make it deep into the playoffs. Not that that matters because the Leafs are 5 years out from winning a cup and can’t get past the Bruins who play the game right. |

As long as he doesn't go to Boston or Tampa, I can accept it.
But I'd obviously prefer him choosing the Leafs. |

I just thank our lucky stars we don't have to face the 2011 Bruins. |
