As far as the privacy thing...
I bet most people here have run into a Leafs player in the city. Hell, I never spent much time downtown and I have run into at least 4 that I can remember.
Never once, have I ever seen them being disturbed by a fan. I have never even seen them being asked for an autograph and barely even acknowledged. I remember once seeing a dad tell his kid that was Mats Sundin after Sundin was out of earshot, and I remember a guy in Coles(?) bookstore saying Hey Tie Domi!
I wonder about this whole privacy and can't leave the house thing. I think it's bullpoop.

He could be the Marlies assistant coach making 11M x 7. They might have just given him a contract to work for MLSE (after this one year). Should he make it through the first 3 months of the NHL season alive, an NHL playing contract would replace the janitor contract on the table.
