OK, so basically you've got nothing, but are just really bored and want to argue and there are no clouds around right now to argue with? - Thecakeisalie
Quite the opposite, it's you who has nothing that is convincing enough to actually prove Tavares is willing to put everything aside to play for the Leafs. |

Driving from Michigan to Tennessee with the misses for work. Ended up being much later than we anticipated due to canceled flights from storms. |

Simply taking an interview would suggest it's plausible. |

I'm sure the Toronto media has tried getting that nugget of gold out of him but I've never seen him say anything remotely entertaining regarding that topic. |

It's not as wide as you'd think between lets say NYI and say Toronto, is 376,603K dollars on a 7 million dollar salary. |

So just to be clear here, are you saying that there are no reasons at all why Tavares would even consider coming to play in Toronto? None at all, other than as a bluff to get better offers elsewhere?
I mean, it can't be money, since you've already stated he'll take home more elsewhere. Even on a max deal, if you just use that tax thing on TSN, Tampa would give him more money at a bit over $11 mil per.
The other reasons you've said are all unproven fantasy, cause the idea someone might want to play for their favorite team growing up is just crazy... |

You're still not admitting that it's something that could actually happen and there's evidence to suggest it. |

8th year changes it. And the Islanders have offered 11 a year. |

I never said it can't happen. I'm saying the evidence is weak and the stronger pull for him would be for the Leafs to give him McDavid money or he's going to go with the better teams that pay him more and give him nicer weather and more privacy. |

I'm saying those reasons are weak reasons or inferior reasons by comparison and/or lack evidence and the larger reasons of more money, better team, more privacy are more compelling reasons for him to go other places than Toronto. |

I'm not trying to prove anything though Eugene, which you don't seem to understand.
I agree that the odds are he won't sign in Toronto.
All I've said is that there are some reasons why he'd consider it. If you don't think there are any reasons, why did you say earlier Toronto had a slight chance, even if it's a small one?
If you think there are no reasons at all why he'd sign with Toronto, why aren't you suggesting that Toronto has a 0% chance? |

I'm saying your reasons lack evidence and take a back seat to the bigger, better reasons which can be proven through the facts and history of the decisions made by the dozens, if not hundreds of players who came before him. |

NYI offer him little chance to win in the next three years, and he pays lots/medium amount of tax in the state of New York.
Toronto has a decent chance to win, moreso than the NYI, but he pays slightly more tax although he gets a 20% up-lift on his salary.
San Jose has high taxes as it's in the state of California but they have a really good team, although their main guys are hitting the ends of their careers. Still a good window to win plus a great lifestyle.
Dallas has a good team, 42 wins 92 points in a down year, great taxation and great lifestyle.

OK, so you think the reasons he might not sign are "inferior", which basically translates into you thinking they don't have as much weight in a decision making process.
You're probably right. That's why most people agree he'll likely not sign in Toronto. So once again, you are arguing for no reason. Barely anyone on here would actually disagree.
We'll only sign JT if those "weak/inferior" reasons actually happen to be stronger to JT than we expect.
As a Leafs fan, I truly hope those reasons matter to him a lot, but I'm prepared for the fact that he'll sign elsewhere.
