They’re going up for sure, but I’d rather try to find the next Riley Nash for less than half the price instead of signing him and giving him his big pay raise.
Easier said than done of course but it’s possible and there’s no downside besides a contract spot used - Nucker101
They will find someone. I am not worried. I still think Canucks should check Anisimov and Hossa .Three good years of a second line center and Hossa goes on LTIR |

Yakapov a UFA again - VANTEL
Yakapov and Goldobin together on the same line? Even with Sutter between them it's still a defensive albatross |

Canucks extended offers today to Sven Jake and Stecher.
I would be surprised if they sign DP or Cassels |

Yeah, I'm sure that's what most teams are thinking. He's pretty high up there behind Tavares |

We will already have a line up of rookies trying to find their way, I don’t want free agents who are trying to find their way as well. A versatile player that can move up and down the lineup and shelter the kids is exactly what this team needs, IMO. If it’s under four mil for three years with no trade protection, I’m good with it.
Once the young guys establish themselves we can start targeting value players. Hopefully better than Gillis did. |

Sure, if it's a player who has a decent history of being that type of a versatile player.
Riley Nash was pretty much a journeymen/depth type of player who only played in the bottom 6 before this past season. He doesn't exactly play a gritty game either. I really don't want another Gagner type of situation where the Canucks are paying for a guy coming off of a career high in points from a better team.
Would rather spend that money with a more proven track record or just take a flier on 2-3 guys who were under-utilized on better teams than the Canucks and might thrive with a better opportunity.

No way in hell any sane arbitrator gives him anything close to 3M or 4M. I like that Benning is being more of a hardass negotiator but it'll look bad if Pouliot leaves for another team after they traded a top 100 pick for him less than a year ago.
Not a good look for a team that should be adding picks. |

Toughness is getting brought up a lot.
I’d rather sign Roussel(speed) and Pateryn(actually a solid bottom pairing dman) than Reaves/Beagle but that’s just me
Pateryn can fill the exact role guys like Engelland do. Reliable bottom pairing dman, physical and will drop the gloves if needed.
Rousell is good on the forecheck(something this team sorely lacks), physical, an agitator and will drop the gloves when he feels like it lol. Younger than guys like Beagle too so giving him 3-4 years isn’t as stupid.
Plus these are the kind of guys GM’s want to add at TDL’s |
