My wife and I have considered moving to 100mile but she doesn't know if she can handle the winter's. That's exciting...ish. - Retinalz
Expect a -40 night or two... and then +40 for a few days in Aug... and smoke.

We own half an acre at deka lake for vacations when we are broke. only about a 5 min walk to the lake from there(boat launch area). He thought of moving there because we would have no mortgage, she can get transfered and we can afford me to stay at home until the kids are both in school. But with her depression, she feels that the lowered stress/being happier would be ruined by the depression she thinks she would get in the winter. My sister lives in Golden and she says from around Xmas to April she tends to be a bit depressed due to the snow limiting what can be done. - Retinalz
It took my father a couple of seasons to adjust to living at my place down near Green Lake. It is the extended winter he doesn't handle too well. Weather wise,,,, you get a lot of sun in the winter up here... sometimes weeks of it at a time without much snow. Typically cold during the sunny stretches but it's nowhere near as depressing as months of rain to most people. You give away April and May up here to poop weather and June is a real mixed plate. On the other side of the year, really nice Sept Oct up here. Warm sunny in the day and nice cool sleeping weather at night. About mid Oct,,, wintery clouds are showing up and you get some snow here and there but often there will be a Nov nice spell as well before winter settles in.
If rain= down mood and sun= good mood.... Cariboo may work out for you. If cold weather is worse than rain to a person.... well... not many months of just warm weather and even scorching hot period, you still get clear nights that drop to around -0 sometimes.

I left the lower mainland 10 years ago. I make a lot less money but my quality of life has tripled. - Marwood
Same here. Dropped so much baggage just by creating distance. So many maggots down there... so much stress trying to get around.
I also remind myself I felt the exact same way moving from Toronto to small town life in East Van. |

We live in Pitt Meadows. Problem with the lower mainland is that it continuously gets harder to live here. We own our home but still owe 250k in the mortgage(worth about 700k right now). We mostly don't want to move due to my mom being here and having a great neighbor. But we both like small town life, and we could afford to have more toys. The only thing I need as far as stuff is a store to go play MTG and there is one in williams lake. I could never live on the island or too far away from family. We have family in 100 mile as well. It is unlikely we do it, but rising property taxes, strata fee,s gas, insurance, etc could eventually force us to do something. - Retinalz
Nice a fellow MTG player. |

I find Vancouver very small and slow when I come visit from New York. All about context eh? 😜 |

Well put. Living up here isn’t fo everyone but when it’s nice here it’s really really nice. This past winter was a long tough one though. |

I find it ridiculous all these teams trying to win over Tavare's affection.
My pitch would be Hey Kid I have a handful of money , do you want to play here. Meeting would last 45 seconds |

Canucks need to spend 3.4 million just too reach cap floor, with Baertschi, Virtanen and Stecher RFA's.
Barring any high-priced free-agent signings, Canucks should have around 20 million cap-space, this season. |

Money is going to be lots everywhere so the pitch is about how they will win. I don't think these guys worry as much about if it is 10 or 11 million over 7 years.
San Jose or Tampa is my guess if he goes anywhere. |

I love that teams are going out and throwing 13 mil at one player . 2 years from now they will be crying and trying to dump contract |

I think Tavares is as safe as it gets when it comes to retaining value.
If he wasn't on such a sad sack of a team his career, I think he is considered just a notch below Crosby/Ovi and above everyone else.

Not really the point. Sure JT is great but you need balance on the team . If Matthews signs for 12.5 next year and JT 12.5 this year that is 25 mil a little less than 1/4 cap on two players |

Stamkos makes 8.5 mil/year. I know he's at a discount but I think it'd be tough to defend Tavares making 4 mil more than him |
