Good teams stay good by seeing that hey have a guy ready to jump in, trading someone in their way and giving them that shot. This kept Chicago relevant for quite some time, they still are really. It has worked for TB, Washington, etc. Baerschi is expendable and should be traded, Goldy should be given a shot to prove he can do it. We are likely to suck with or without baerschi, get an asset for him and suck with goldy in stead.

I just don't see him as that ready: he wasn't blowing people away every game last year. Not even every other game. He got sat and juggled around quite a bit. It's one thing to make room for an EP, it's another for a guy who has potential but hasn't shown it through two teams.

As for the asset, do you think his value will be higher now or at the TDL? May as well showcase Baer on the top line post-injury, make Goldy earn the promotion, and then see how he can do after the TDL. If we're gonna suck with or without him, what's the problem with letting Goldy grow behind him? And most of those teams made their players wait before bringing them up...

I gave him two choices, one more controversial then the other.

Goldy is not waivers exempt. Trade him or trade Baerschi. You don't go into next season with both, or you don't sign a UFA that takes their spot. It is a waste to sit goldy, at some point you need to let the kid sink or swim. We are in a perfect position to do just that. If you try and develop him in Utica he will be lost on waivers. Unfortunately we do not have a talented 3rd line to let him develop on like a lot of teams do, we will have that eventually. Our 2nd line will be makeshift with EP at its core. That is only if we get a center via UFA.
Again most teams will have a 3rd line to let a kid like Goldy develop on, and we do not have that...at all.

My wife and I have considered moving to 100mile but she doesn't know if she can handle the winter's. That's exciting...ish.

We own half an acre at deka lake for vacations when we are broke. only about a 5 min walk to the lake from there(boat launch area). He thought of moving there because we would have no mortgage, she can get transfered and we can afford me to stay at home until the kids are both in school. But with her depression, she feels that the lowered stress/being happier would be ruined by the depression she thinks she would get in the winter. My sister lives in Golden and she says from around Xmas to April she tends to be a bit depressed due to the snow limiting what can be done.

Can he be signed though? Edmonton did this a few years back and it bit them in the ass because the kid had to go back into the draft.

Apparently they cant sign him until 2019
All of this is to say that the Canucks will be unable to sign Eggenberger during or after the upcoming development camp as he is still eligible for the 2019 draft and did not play a full season in North America this past year.

Burrows is one of those players with low character on the ice. I'm happy to be rid of that kind of culture he and Kesler brought. They were excellent players for us but not anymore so their baggage will never be worth it today.

We live in Pitt Meadows. Problem with the lower mainland is that it continuously gets harder to live here. We own our home but still owe 250k in the mortgage(worth about 700k right now). We mostly don't want to move due to my mom being here and having a great neighbor. But we both like small town life, and we could afford to have more toys. The only thing I need as far as stuff is a store to go play MTG and there is one in williams lake. I could never live on the island or too far away from family. We have family in 100 mile as well. It is unlikely we do it, but rising property taxes, strata fee,s gas, insurance, etc could eventually force us to do something.

100$ each way to visit family. time to get to the ferry, ferry to cross, then go to their house is not a crazy amount of time saved. The only benefit to the island is able to visit during winter easily due to lack of snow.
