Canucks 1 of 4 or 5 teams in on Tobias Rieder. If hes cheap wouldnt be a bad pickup - phyllee
I'd rather Duclair. |

Both? - VANTEL
sure.
probably unlikely to get 2/3 of top cheap LW'ers tho.
Duclair is younger and probably cheaper.
Might be more inclined to go with a 1-2 year show me contract. |

Both would be good. Would light the fire for most of the players this summer, especially Goldy, this summer is basically a make it or break it for him. |

Nah the spots are going to Gagne and Eriksson anyways
They don't need to be good their contracts will gift them the spot |

He had a pretty solid showing last year, I'd be surprised if wasn't already penciled in. |

Make him AGM and have him learn the role, Benning has 3 years on his contract i think and will be a gm for 2-3 years. Plenty of time to learn things. - Retinalz
Don't think it's Judd's time yet. also too valuable as head of amateur scouting right now. maybe he can groom a replacement over the next couple of years?
i like everything i've heard/seen from RJ so far and would not be opposed to him working his way up.
I've been thinking about this a bit lately, and wouldn't be surprised to see JB take on more of an advisory role in a couple years - or just move on. |

Seems like he wanted to play for the Canucks, which is nice to see.
1.1m, 1 year, 1 way contract. a good show me deal. - dbot
yep decent deal. glad he's back. can make some plays. hopefully see him take another step in development this year. |

Eriksson-Horvat-Boeser
?-Sutter-Pettersson
Virtanen-?-Gagner
?-?-?
Not my line predictions. Just think alot of guys will be competing for spots this year. Bear, Goldy, Leipsic, Boucher, Gaudette, Granlund (who i dont think makes the team), Gaunce, and whatever free agents Benning signs |

Thought I heard JB saying they are looking to add leadership and toughness...neither fit the bill IMO. |

I hear ya. I don't think anyone on here is excited about Gagner or Loui, but realistically, they are going to be on the team, no point pretending otherwise.
I think if you assume Elias Pettersson makes the squad, you still need a LW and C.
Gaunce, Leipsic (not Boucher, he's AHL or injury fill in), or a UFA like Duclair could battle for the wing spot and try and sign/trade for a C.

So you have 3 guys that played 16-18 "battling" and a kid that played 11 minutes a night penciled in? Seems a bit off. I would say the guys who have a roster spot are Bo, Boeser, Baer, LE, Sutter, Gagner and Granlund as they've been mainstays. most likely after that are Petterson, Liepsic and Goldy. That leaves 3 spots which I assume Gaudette will get one of and the other two will be UFA's and guys like JV/gaunce. If they didn't think Granlund was making the team, they wouldn't have resigned him, doesn't matter if you think he will or not he's on a one-way contract. |

low risk signing imo.
if he doesn't fit the bill, waive him and/or send to UTica.
potential options for a UFA LW:
1. Anthony Duclair. Last year salary- 1.2m
5'11, 190lbs
22 yrs old.
56GP 11 12 23pts
2. Tobias Reider. Last year salary - 2.25m
5'11 188lbs
25 yrs old.
78GP 12 13 25pts
3. Antoine Roussel. Last year salary - 2.0m
6'0 200lbs.
28 yrs old.
73GP 5 12 17pts
i'd go with Duclair if given the choice. |

You don't solve that by flipping a lightswitch, the team has the worst goalies and defence corps in the league. you should read it might be good for you. |

I like the signing. It's a low $ show me agreement for someone who improved over the course of the season, can keep up with the play, and is still quite young. If he gets pushed out by OJ or Hughes...it is because they earn it, not because the team is unwilling to sit $6M/year in the press box. Some upside, but mostly limited downside. |

Wont argue on the Dcore, but Markstrom had a better regular season then Murray, Price, Schnieder, Holtby, Talbot, Lehner, ect. And no im not saying Canucks are fine on Goaltending, but its not in the worst spot |

We desperately need some offence from the back end.
Edler and Pouliot seemed like the only D that can provide that. |
