Jmatchette commented on Tavares possibly going to Toronto. That spilled into some Toronto talk.
You took offense to me comparing our prospects to Toronto's. Toronto has pulled themselves out of being an NHL basement dweller and making the playoffs the past couple years. Yes, for now I like there core better.
Anything else you wanna wine about? They drafted themselves out of being a crappy team and now look like they're gonna make the playoffs every year...
 - SuperSchennBros
Liking their core is different then saying their prospect pool holistically is better.
I agree I woukd take Matthews and Marner over Patrick and TK in a second.
Just like I would take Provorov over Reilly.
Once you get out of that core of 3 though i think the Flyers have a better prospect pool.

The Hawks apparently just don’t want him back. On the other hand, the Hawks have made a lot of questionable personnel decisions over the past 2years - Djapana
The Hawks also gave up an asset for him too, which says a lot about Duclair. His time in the NHL is running out. Probably see him overseas soon. |

That's why I keep coming back to Riley Nash. He was under $1mil this season so his cap hit wouldn't be ridiculous ($2-$3 mil???). He is 29 years old so a 3-5 year deal isn't crazy. And he would address our PK need. Not the PK answer but a nice piece.
ROR is just too expensive for a 3rd line center role. He may be worth it but not the way we are set-up for next year. - cdearth23
I like Nash also. If O'Reilly was obtained, which I don't advocate for, he wouldn't be in a 3rd line role. He'd be playing heavy minutes in all situations. |

Not meant as a shot man, but if the club decides to stop overpaying for mediocrity in guys like Mac/Weise then no probs. I'd overpay for talent. Cheapen out on the turds, they can be found in every FA period. - flyer_nutter
I would like less expensive turds too, personally I prefer very very cheap turds. Problem is you don't always know a turd until you get close and sniff em. |

They wouldn’t take that for Trouba.
Guys, every team in the league has tape of how Gudas played after his suspension. Especially in the playoffs. Say whatever you want, he has no value. - Flyers1218
Gudas absolutely still has value.

I think you'd be looking at a 1st with Simmonds and one of Sanheim/Myers.
If the Jets would be willing to throw in Appleton - I'd be jumping for joy. I dont believe sitting on the ass and simply drafting is the only way to go at it. If a guy like Trouba becomes available, you have to at least look at a deal.
Appleton is also a ginger. I think he's a perfect player for this club to target. - flyer_nutter
I know going full circle, would Winnipeg want that deal? |

Just for fun of course but hypothetically:
Sanheim, 2019 1st and Simmonds
for
Trouba and Appleton
I'd do that. True enough, not sure about Winnipeg. Appleton is the next Connor, just not the big name yet. |

That happens when you sign/trade for players out of desperation. Every Islander fan said exactly what AMAC would become, unfortunately at least 1 person on the Flyers ignored them and thought differently. - Glak18
There was no desperation. MacDonald has been a solid signing. His contract was slightly elevated but that's the cost of getting a solid defenseman. MacDonald is a much better player than Islanders fans thought he was and what most Flyers fans think he is. The worst source of how good or bad a player is, is a team's fanbase overall. With some exceptions.

Karolina Gudas? Lots of value - Glak18
If Gudas can't learn how to be an effective guy without playing so close to the edge I want nothing to do with him.
I liked Radko but he kind of did it to himself, and he is going to never be given the benefit of the doubt anymore. A non-feisty Gudas is kind of a meh player.
I hope he adjusts, he seems like a good dude. |

I agree, Radko is more effective when he walks the line. That can be said about a lot of players. |

Andy Mac is a bottom pairing dman. Is he a top 6 on a cup caliber Team?
His contract is terrible no matter how u slice it. Not worth anything close to whay he makes |

Have you seen the defense of the last two stanley cup champs?
For more clarity...Brooks Orpik multiple Stanley Cup Champion. Let that sink in. |

I thought it was already said/known that the Rangers and Wild also really liked him. Draft night Pierre was saying the Rangers were mad we took him. |

Its such a tough league to win in. Hell it took basically generational talents for Pittsburgh and Chicago to get there on a consistent basis.
I think the Flyers are on the right path overall. The goalie needs to be found. Going with the turds year after year is just asking to meet the Shawshank sisters in the showers. |

Orpik was a much better dman when he won it with the pens so to compare to the Orpik of today is misleading ....
Doesn’t change the fact Andy Mac is a bottom pairing dman. |

Every team has their turds...until they win a championship. Pittsburgh won the cup back to back years, this year they have turds that need to be flushed.
Best Eagles coach ever? Yup, bet your answer was different a year ago. |

Why not compare him of today...he just won the cup, making 5.5M, LHD Defenseman. The sad part is AMAC is better. |
