Looking forward to Kovalchuk’s first game back in Jersey.

Scratch Carlson off the hopefuls... paid a little too much imo (8x8). Was a 40 point D last year and gets a 70 point year this year, gets paid like a perennial 70 pt defenseman.

Hope he keeps it up for the Caps, but those last three or four years are gonna hurt.

Bob says Carlson is close to re-signing for 8x8

Not a bad deal for the caps

It's a terrible deal. He isn't that good.

Considering the cap went up a good amount and seems to go up 4+ mill each year it's not going to be too bad, gotta see what happens with the next CBA

Have to imagine the small budget teams will struggle more and more with the floor going up, cant see Arizona being able to afford it for long

Ends when he’s 36, not the worst deal in the world, but he’s probably really worth about 6 mil a year.

Hossa to Coyotes like Pronger/Datsyuk. It’s bound to happen.

eh idk. he's their #1 dman, plays both ends of the ice exceptionally well. with the cap going up, and the deal ending at 36 instead of 38 or something.. 8 isn't too bad for your #1 guy.

He doesn't play against top competition. Paying 8mil for a guy who is getting sheltered minutes, favorable offensive zone starts, and generates a lot of points on the power play doesn't look good long term.

You are probably right but there is no way he wasn't going to get that kind of money from someone.

Looks better then having $8M in cap space and a poopty defense.

I get "having something is better than nothing" but the contract looks a lot worse when it hamstrings your cap situation.
