Not sure how much the Canadiens value Danault, but what about this deal:

To PIT: pacs, danault
To MON: brassard, Sheary, 2019 2nd round pick.

Danault and Sheahan can battle it out for the 3rd C position. Again, it depends on how they view Danault and brassard

I personally dont think Sheahan is good enough to be a long term 3C... but if we did we use Brassard to get a LW upgrade.... how do we get an a 3C? or at least an above average 4C?
- YouMeAndDupuis9

Sheahan IS basically Bonino. Regular season points-wise anyway. Bones was pretty f'n clutch in the playoffs and Sheahan didn't have a great playoff last season. There's a few good UFA 4c's available that shouldn't cost a ton. Not really looking for a long term 3C. Maybe just 2 or 3 years max.

Caps did well. They'll be keeping Carlson now.

Avs are going to buy Orpik out. Another option for depth on the cheap?

Kunitz was an underrated loss last season

I wish the Pens had found a way to be more aggressive and kept him last Summer

Sign Kunitz for $1M. Nothing bad can come out of this.

Wait until Sully puts the band back together on the top line. They'll be blue murder in here.

It's not that I want to trade Brassard and my opinion isn't based on his injured playoff performance. It was obvious he wasn't 100%. I just believe there's a high value for centers and it's possible we could do very well with the return.....not to mention his cap hit is 3mil. I'm viewing it from the asset management angle. I'm assuming a team that acquired him would be able to give him his next contract. We can't.

Beyond that, he's not a traditional 3C. I don't think he's a good PK'r and I'd prefer a 3c that's good in that department. I think we need to upgrade at LW and 4C (if Brass is moved). I believe Sheahan can pretty much handle the things that Bones did for us.

Not against Brass staying, but mention of him making noises about being unhappy on the third is concerning - he will always be a 3C at best in Pgh, which can't be very motivating. Whereas Sheahan rose to the 3C role and can gain value there, that's motivating - he was wasted playing 4C minutes if you ask me. If Brass isn't happy, and you get Kunitz and a decent 4C, then add a Skinner or Patches in a Brass trade...I'd be ok with it.

Jeez Trotz left and NOW the Caps upload Orpik... Tanner must have just creamed in his pants over these last few days for the Caps.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind them trading for Athanasiou as a winger/center option. It worked out with Sheahan coming to us. Maybe we can get him cheap.

Now seeing our pick #22 get shuffled around. RIP first round picks.

This draft is so boring.

For having 3 picks, i thought the Rangers did a pretty poor job, I liked the Miller pick but the others I thought they left better players/value on the board ... on the other hand Isles got lucky, 2 real good prospects

It makes it so much (frank)ing worse that we passed up on forsberg and Trouba. Before the pens announced the actual pick I was like “it’s forsberg, it has to be forsberg!!”

Just imagine if the Pens picked forsberg! Think of the multiple cups they could have won... oh wait...

Nice report on Sully & Phil on NHL.com.

Is it legit? Sounds fair in my opinion. It's from Sully though so it's in his best interest to be favourable about his players.

Bringing Kunitz back would go a long way in changing the culture around this team. Too many passengers, Kunitz always contributes wether it’s in the stats or not.
